Enjoying the Bellevue

Landmark Homes in Silverado evolves and contemporizes with the times

There is a new colour palette in town and it can be found in Landmark Homes' Silverado show home.

In the 2,127-square-foot Bellevue show home, gone are monochromatic shades of taupe, replaced with a modernized palette of dove grey, sage green and cream. Landmark has updated the look that has dominated show homes for several years, adding an airiness and subtle contemporary flair.

Outside, the Bellevue is inviting with a craftsman-inspired exterior finished, stone touches and a wood-style double garage door.

Inside, the warmth of the interior finishing sets off modern touches like the upgraded stainless steel Frigidaire appliance package and modernized shaker-style cabinets. A neutral palette of greys and off-whites complement charcoal-coloured hardwood and dark-stained cabinetry. Eye-catching Bianco Antico granite sparkles with gold flecks in the kitchen.

Clear grey glass tiles laid in an L-shaped pattern lend texture to the kitchen backsplash. Long chrome hardware ties together all of the grey and silver elements.

“This home would be easy to decorate,” says Landmark sales associate Mony Ung. “Any colour would work.”

Every room on the main floor is highlighted by natural light that floods in from above your head. Over the doors and windows are transom windows and in the great room three skylights in the nine-foot ceiling send slanted light across the room.

Not only do the Bellevue’s windows let in the light, but they also let in the fresh air. “They all open through the back,” Ung explains, adding that most windows in the home are vented.

And for those homes that back onto one of the area green spaces, Ung recommends drop-down privacy blinds that can be retracted to enjoy the light and the views.

A multi-purpose den that could serve as an office, computer room or even a cosy dining room is anything but utilitarian. Archways are a pleasant architectural touch to separate the space, while leaving it open and accessible to the foyer and great room. Textured berber and a solid wooden handrail take you up the stairs to a T-intersection. A left up two stairs takes one to the spacious 324-square-foot bonus room or a jaunt to the right up three stairs leads the way to the home’s three bedrooms.

“What is nice about this is there is some distinction between the bedrooms and the bonus room because the space is differentiated,” Ung says. The master bedroom is an oasis with an ensuite bathroom that will allow any couple to get ready for the day simultaneously. The dual sinks, stand-up shower, luxurious sit down tub with tiled ledge and full-length mirror are all wrapped in tile and granite.

Every fixture in the home is low-flow, a requirement in Silverado where water conservation and energy efficiency come first.

Front-loading washers and dryers are a must and an outside rain barrel is provided with each home to collect water that can be used for plants, flowers and lawns.

Landmark also likes to throw in extras as well. “Almost everything is standard,” boasts Ung.

The show home can be recreated from the low $600,000s and the area starting price is from the $490,000s including lot and GST.

In addition to the esthetics there are many hidden extras in a Landmark Home. “We have high-efficiency furnaces, argon low-E windows and a sewer back up valve in the basement, because these are little things that you don’t want to have to worry about,” Ung says. “There are lots of value-added items in our homes.”

Landmark has lots available in phases eight through 11 and many prime spots are still available. Several lots back onto or face green areas and some even have a rear lane—a rarity for new homes in Calgary.
