When buying a new home becomes more about finding a place to set down firm roots and expand your family tree, Mahogany Lake is the community to grow in.

Wrapped around 80 acres of private fresh water lake and park land—making it Calgary’s largest—the 1,300-acre community in the southeast will be developed over the next 15 years by some of the best builders in Alberta including award winning Stepper Custom Homes.

Their seven unique home designs are “perfect for families looking to take a step up,” according to Stacey Wells, Stepper’s marketing director, adding the plans will incorporate the solid workmanship, personalized finishes and follow-up customer service that has helped to set Stepper apart in the industry for the last 50 years.

Stepper’s show homes in the area represent the two largest of their home designs and showcase the Coastal and Arts and Crafts architectural styles. Along with those two themes, this phase of Mahogany will also include the French Country and Shingle styles, all of which were chosen to complement the tree-lined boulevards and sandy shores envisioned by the developer, Hopewell Residential Communities.

The Hemlock Cove model is 2,262 square-feet, finished with a coastal elevation, and designed to bring the outdoors in. There is an abundance of windows throughout with a fresh Coastal colour scheme to complete the look. The interior includes many luxurious details throughout, typical to Stepper Homes, such as a large den and high functioning kitchen with a huge granite-topped island for food preparation and serving. Another highlight is the balcony off the bonus room, hidden for more privacy.

Each of Stepper’s homes offer a set of preplanned options. In the Hemlock Cove model, you can decide on three-bedrooms and bonus room or four-bedrooms upstairs. The bonus room itself can be made larger as can the nook on the main floor. The laundry room can be installed on the upper floor which gives residents the option of having a larger mud room on the main floor and you can choose to have the basement level developed to suit your lifestyle.

The Oak Bay model, at 2,473 square-feet, is arts and crafts style – a style which historically used “varied roof pitches and a flared eave to suggest that it has been built in several phases over the years. The Oak Bay is a wonderful representation of this style ” says Wells.

With a stone clad portico extending up to the second floor at the entrance, the exterior has added character and appeal. There are four bedrooms with a huge bonus room on the upper floor and the master suite contains a large walk in closet, fireplace and en suite. Standard features, such as the double-sided fireplace between the great room and kitchen nook area, feel like upgrades and the finished basement in the show home-with lounge, bar, family room and separate exercise room-lets buyers see the possibilities for the option package they select.

All of Stepper’s Mahogany homes will feature front garages including the bungalow design, the Spruce Harbour. It’s the most compact model at a not-too-cramped 1,231 square-feet on the main floor, without the lower level development. In addition to the flexibility in floor plans, is the ability to select other details like wooden or brushed chrome railings, maple cabinetry in the kitchen, and stainless steel, Energy Star® appliances. With energy efficiency in mind, this Built GreenTM builder provides standard low-E windows, 92 per cent high-efficiency furnaces and Energy Star® digital programmable thermostats.

And to ensure customers wind up with their perfect home, Stepper has introduced the HOST program or “Home Owner Satisfaction Team” to take customers step by step through the building experience. From the initial review of plans and specs to the presentation of the home on possession day, this team keeps customers in the loop during the construction process with consistent contact.

Designed for four season recreation, with cosy street and home names using wood and water elements; in touch with the needs of urban families—Mahogany Lake will encourage true diversity and vibrancy, with architecture inspired by the history and topography of the area for Calgary families for generations to come.
