A taste of New England
Connecticut 3 brings East Coast influence to west-side Calgary
Beattie Custom Homes' show home in Wentworth Estates is what you can call all frills with no fuss.
Now on the market, the Connecticut 3, comes fully furnished and with tons of upgrades. Situated on a corner lot, it is easy to find; head straight up trendy 17th Avenue southwest, take a left onto 85 Street, then right onto 9 Avenue and a quick right onto Wentworth Terrace and you have arrived.
Featuring oversized lots and one-of-a-kind homes, Wentworth Estates is one of Calgary’s newest luxury neighbourhoods in the city’s southwest.
Beattie Custom Homes’ contribution to Wentworth Estates’ show home parade is a 3,130-square-foot bungalow with a loft and developed basement. And although this home is definitely a place to spend your golden years, this is not your grandparents’ bungalow by any stretch.
There is no rumpus room, dark basement or small bedrooms all crowded on one floor. On the contrary, the Connecticut 3 has tons of modern living, family and entertaining space.
The living room ceiling stretches up over 20 feet high and opens both into the foyer and the kitchen, creating one space for the family to congregate in, or to host the perfect soiree.
Meanwhile, the cook of the house will find everything he or she needs to create a delicious family dinner every night, and the equipment and storage to whip up a three-course meal for a dinner party for 20 or more. Upgraded Thermador appliances serve up a professional feel in the kitchen and a built-in cappuccino machine is one of the scores of luxurious touches found consistently throughout this home. Lagos blue quartz countertops and a huge island take this kitchen from standard to sensational.
For added entertaining pleasure, the backyard patio can be accessed via the kitchen, living room and master bedroom. The exposed aggregate, dual-sided fireplace, built-in planters and a barbecue fit for a king—or queen—make bringing the party outside seamless.
Casual entertaining is also a cinch on the lower level, where guests can enjoy a beverage at the banqet while watching a game of billiards or mingle around the wet bar, which is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave and wine cooler.
Five bedrooms and five bathrooms split between the main floor, loft and basement leaves everyone with plenty of breathing room. A pair of lower bedrooms adjacent to the media room, could be the ideal space for older children and the loft has the perfect out of the way guest room with its own bathroom and relaxation area furnished with built in bookshelves and a great sofa for stretching out on with a good book.
Every detail has been taken into account when designing and furnishing this contemporary, yet cosy home.
Pillars situated throughout the home are opened up with square cutouts, enhancing the open feel and adding an interesting architectural detail. The lofty feel continues with ten-foot ceilings on every floor and eight-foot solid-core doors, which draw the eye up.
However, the view down below is also lovely, with Brazilian tiger wood placed on the diagonal on the main floor. The bedrooms and the remainder of the home are covered in creamy shag that just begs you to go barefoot. The entire basement floor is heated, including the cork floor in the gym, as is the floor in both the single- and double-bay garages. Another noteworthy added touch is a fully-integrated and digital heating, lighting, cooling, security and sound system.
The Connecticut 3 show home is selling now for $1.96 million fully furnished, and is expected to be ready for possession this summer. NL
