Hillside hideaway
Crestmont by Qualico Group an anomaly at city’s edge
“Pride of ownership of the residents of Crestmont is amazing,” says Lori Masse, marketing manager for the Qualico Group. “And this neighbourhood is an anomaly as there is no commercial development nor is there any multifamily development. It is an exclusive little enclave with its own private roadway.”
Crestmont by Qualico is located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, perched on a hillside with unobstructed foothills, mountain and river valley views. “Crestmont was started in the late 1990s, made up of eight phases and 160 acres, with anticipated completion within the old city limits being late 2008. Qualico is releasing a new phase comprised of 18 pristine estate lots in the winter of 2007.” Lots start at $350,000 up to $900,000, with sizes ranging from 56 feet wide to a quarter-of-an-acre. “We have some of the largest lots within the city limits,” explains Masse.
Albi and Augusta Fine Homes, both high-end custom home builders, are currently featured in the show home parade in Chateaux Summit. Six distinct architectural styles are available to choose from: Prairie, Tudor, French Country, Colonial, Georgian and Craftsman.
“They offer visual variety along the streetscape and selective choice to homeowners. Within these styles, a range of roof pitches are permitted which will break up the visual mass of downhill buildings from views atop the hillside and for views toward the hillside.”
“Thirty per cent of Crestmont is dedicated to unspoiled foothills wilderness. Recognizing the beauty of the aspen forest and slopes, Crestmont Developments West voluntarily donated 18 treed acres for their preservation.”
Concerned about the planet’s future, water conservation measures have been put in place in Crestmont that go above and beyond Calgary Waterworks’ and Environment Canada’s suggested guidelines, introducing water conserving appliances in homes to designing low-water usage landscaping.
Masse describes Crestmont’s many amenities: “We have the most wonderful 4,000-square-foot Residents’ Hall, which makes a beautiful entrance to the community, available for private functions, as well as community events.” Also located in Crestmont are two tot lots, a soccer field, water feature for children and an integrated pathway system for biking or strolling. There are also many opportunities to participate in community events including Stampede breakfasts, Christmas parties, family skating outings and summer picnics.
“It is about a 20-minute commute to downtown Calgary and less than an hour away from the mountains. Crestmont is short drive away from stores and services found at Crowfoot Crossing and Westhills Towne Centre.
Meanwhile learning and leisure pursuits are also close by, with SAIT, the University of Calgary, as well as Mount Royal College, Canada Olympic Park, Crowfoot YMCA and the Westhills Recreational Centre a quick car ride away, adds Masse.
Work, home and play are important factors when deciding on where first to settle and then stay—and it just takes a trip to the area to see the community of Crestmont combines these three elements wonderfully. NL
