ALBERTA HAS A NEW LIGHT heavyweight champion in the easy to install decorative vertical rock panel home market.

Since July of last year, Delta Rock Systems of Calgary has been offering a light weight, affordable and easy to install luxury decorative rock panel.

Delta Rock’s masons and master craftsmen have created products that are the ideal combination of stone textures and sizes, melding them artistically into an extremely easy to install panelling system. Delta Rock products are intended as a light weight veneer wall panel system, providing a very realistic “rock wall” appearance. These products are intended for either interior or exterior application over masonry, wood framed, or metal framed construction, be it residential or commercial.

Delta Customer Service Representative Amy Mak informs, “our products have been engineered such that no additional structural or foundation support is required.”

In part this has been instrumental in attracting huge interest from southern Alberta homebuilders. Delta Rock Systems is on the verge of signing a contract to decorate 200 homes. “This is testament to the quality and superiority of our product,” says Mak.

Delta Rock products are made of uniquely formulated closed-cell polyurethane, incorporating UV inhibitors and fire retardants. The panels and accessory pieces have a remarkably realistic rock look from natural oxides, which are chemically bonded with the molded surface of the panel. The result is a lightweight, durable wall panel system with a realistic rock finish.

Delta Rock products do not add to the structural load bearing capacity of the substrate to which it is applied and is installed a minimum of four feet above grade.

“Our polyurethane panels are extremely light weight and as such have many benefits over stone and cultured stone,” says Mak.

Because of its extreme light weight, it is not as critical the surface be load bearing and requires no additional labour for weather resistant barriers — it is part of the panel — or mesh for a mortar bed. The panels are installed with screws which also eliminate labour required in brushing joints and clean up.

“How easy can it get?” adds Mak. “It may be applied directly to most surfaces with proper masonry screws regardless of surface coating,”

Mak explains that in doing the math the do-it-yourselfer and contractor will discover the same end result — Delta Rock decorative panelling requires a minimal skill set and less time and labour.
“It’s a winner.” NL
