HOMEBUYERS PINING FOR LIFE away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet close enough to the creature comforts and careers are heading for the hills. Aspen Hills, that is.

The Cascade is just one of a half-dozen Greenboro Estate Homes show homes designed specifically with Aspen Hills buyers in mind.

“THE BEST THING ABOUT THESE HOMES is they were all specifically designed for Aspen Hills, and what’s included is different even from the Greenboro homes in the rest of the city,” says Corilee Keryluk, sales representative, along with Dennis Burnell and John O’Connor, for Aspen Hills.

Added extras buyers come home to in their Greenboro address on the coveted west side include tile and hardwood throughout the main floor, as well as tile in all bathrooms, Whirlpool brand stainless-steel kitchen appliances, nine-foot main-floor ceilings, and elegant wooden railings in maple, oak or paint grade.

“They really are designed to be jewel boxes,” says O’Conner, adding the builder’s energy-efficient standards of Sol-R Shield windows, high-efficiency furnaces and high-recovery hot water tanks are also part of each well-appointed package in Aspen Hills.

The Cascade is a 2,159-square-foot two-storey gem with three bedrooms and a bonus room and plenty of Greenboro’s “Wow” factor to suit a wide range of buyers. The final stop on the model home parade, the plan’s open concept with a mix of traditional and contemporary appointments is worth the trip through the other equally eye-catching digs.

“I would say it’s the large open foyer and elegant staircase that first gets people’s attention,” says Keryluk. “It’s very appealing to the younger people in their twenties and thirties, but a lot of the older crowd like the foyer for its traditional feel.”

While the home’s foyer conveys a warm and spacious first impression, the rear of the generous main level goes the extra mile to reinforce the Cascade’s family and entertaining-friendly attributes. Whether in the deliciously garnished kitchen – complete with a raised island and cabinet space galore – or in the expansive nearby eating nook, there’s space for the whole crew to create and sup in style.

Also to the taste of resident chefs and growing families alike are a plethora of cabinets and walk-through pantry accessible straight from a trip to the supermarket via the mudroom.

In the great room, another towering ceiling raises interest in the aptly-dubbed great room, which also draws in scores of natural light through its massive windows. And tucked privately behind on the main floor is an office with a proper door, conveniently near the main floor hub, but away from traffic for when the need arises. “Not everyone keeps their office neat and tidy, and you don’t always want people seeing that right at the front of the home,” says Keryluk.

Meanwhile, a powder room, also cleanly inked-in out of sight, rounds out the elegant main floor. Up a handsome wood and iron staircase – cascading in light via a duo of well placed windows – is a second floor serving up a retreat for all residents, wee or grown.

Off to the front of the home is a bonus room fit for a mix of uses from library to home theatre, the latter of which will be the envy of all guests thanks to a 42-inch plasma TV included with every new Aspen Hills address. An angled entry to the room sets the space – and the noise of video games and action movies – apart from the sleeping quarters.

The master bedroom is poised as an escape for busy moms and dads, complete with an ensuite oozing in luxury. With a separate entrance to reach it just inside the bedroom’s entry, and a walk-in closet off the sleeping chambers, morning routines are easily achieved in tandem.

“The upstairs has such a popular master suite and lots of privacy,” says Keryluk, adding the home can also be crafted as a four-bedroom by sliding the sumptuous bath to where the open-to-below now is in the great room. “It’s still a really nice ensuite with the four-bedroom plan.”

And kids will also enjoy some autonomy, thanks to a bathroom insulating the second bedroom from parents and a third kids’ digs next to the massive up-front bonus room.

Greenboro Estate Homes is currently building Tudor and Craftsman addresses in Phases 1 and 2 of Carma’s Aspen Hills, ranging from 1,880 to 2,341 square-feet. The Cascade, one of ten two-storey abodes specially designed for the area, can be built from $627,000 including lot and GST, while homes start in Aspen Hills from $550,000.  NL

To get there, take 17 Ave. west past 85 St. S.W., turn right on Aspen Stone Blvd. and follow the signs to Greenboro’s Aspen Hills show homes.
