The Edendale by Lifestyle Homes

Home shoppers’ paradise on the west sides

Stepping into Lifestyle Homes’ Edendale show home is a true feast for the senses at every carefully designed turn. A throwback to the grand family estate home of yesteryear, the opulent 2,909-square-foot model beauty in the Dundee community of WestPark is poised to dazzle visitors.

FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T SEEM to leave work at the office, an up-front octagonal den makes being a workaholic less taxing to the right of the foyer—complete with a door for privacy.

Designed for entertaining, the only issue once inside the expansive main level will be where to hold court. In addition to a formal dining room, which easily seats a dozen, a massive kitchen island has space to sup casually, while a roomy breakfast nook comfortably seats the whole brood and a few invited guests at mealtime.

Meanwhile, impromptu wine tastings are sure to be uncorked at the bar with space to belly-up for some Sangiovese or Semillon to the right of the bright, airy nook overlooking the deck. Great is the operative word for the gathering room nestled at the rear of the home, punctuated by curved walls and a two-storey ceiling, as well as a fireplace to curl up beside. A delectable culinary space complete with built-in appliances, an enormous pantry, and a massive mudroom just inside the garage round out the main level.

Up a curved, ornate staircase lies a second level that’s more than just for slumber. Here, parents and junior members of the household alike are awash in space of their own. Well-sized kids’ quarters are a parents dream—as is the location at the opposite end of the level to the master chambers. And it’s far from “clothes” quarters for the well-appointed laundry hub, which is conveniently housed near the bedrooms, where clothing resides, complete with its own linen closet, shelves aplenty and a well-placed sink for hand washing.

An open-to-below effect from the library allows sights of the main floor and opens up the anything-but-sleepy upper-level space. But the true haven upstairs in the Edendale is a master suite for the lord and lady of the manor appointed with its own sitting area, dressing room, and luxurious ensuite bath boasting a make-up desk, separate loo, oversized shower and linen closet.

WestPark is Dundee Developments’ sequel to Wentworth on the coveted west side. Residents in the community maintain investment value thanks to architectural requirements for the area, such as minimum sizes for homes (2,800-square-feet for two-storeys and 1,800-square-feet for bungalows), along with six-foot or larger side yards between addresses.

Earth-toned exteriors are poised to hold their rich appearance with blends of acrylic stucco accented by rundle stone or brick, exposed aggregate and patterned driveways, decorative garage doors, and 30-year roof shingles. The developer accepts no siding, save wood-look material such as HardiPlank to further protect investment values.

The Edendale show home is priced at $1.2 million, while Lifestyle Homes is building in the Dundee Developments community of WestPark from around the $1 million mark.  NL

To get to WestPark, take Bow Trail west, turn right on 85 Street S.W. and look for the signs to WestPark showhomes. The Edendale is open for viewing Monday through Thursday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
