At Home in Airdrie
McKee Home's the stratfort in Cooper's Crossing
BUILT ON A PHILOSOPHY of “Quality, Integrity and Honesty”, McKee Homes has been building homes in Airdrie since 1988, explains Nancy Harris, new home and resale home specialist with Manor Real Estate Ltd.
McKee Homes is the proud recipient of the Gold Hammer Award presented by the Alberta New Home Warranty Program and are also a Built Green™ builder. “McKee Homes believes that ‘the best is built in’,” states Nancy. “It’s not always what you see on the outside that is important. It’s behind the walls that make the home high quality.”
High quality is what you will discover in their latest model: The Stratford, a 2024 square foot two storey show home. It is located in the “fantastic family community of Airdrie” in Cooper’s Crossing, with easy access to Calgary, a fifteen minute drive south on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. “More and more amenities” plus a “fabulous recreational centre and good schools” make Airdrie a place to call home, says Nancy. Cooper’s Crossing has “excellent architectural controls”, too. “We are very conscious of how the exterior of the homes look, in order to maintain the vision for a community of luxury and elegance. This is affordable estate living in ‘Airdrie’s premier community’”.
The show home evokes “French country flair” and its curb appeal is welcoming with the lovely front verandah. Dry pack stone accents on the double front drive garage add to the pleasing design.
As you enter the home through the beautiful beveled glass door, the flex room, with double French doors, is found. “It can be used as a dining room, library, study or music room,” says Nancy. To the right is one of the many art alcoves located throughout the home. Continuing further into the home, the “tech room”, set up for two computers is located. It can also be a “quiet study area”.
The great room and kitchen are situated at the back of the house and their windows take advantage of the views of the six acre wet pond, pathway and park area. An eighteen foot soaring ceiling with the stunning two storey gas fireplace is the focal point! An arched entry way into the lovely kitchen is indicative of the elements of design found within The Stratford. Granite countertops, an undermounted black Blanco sink with Delta fixtures, Sienna cherry cabinetry and raised breakfast bar on the island are features meant to please. The laundry room, walk-through pantry and half bath with pedestal sink complete the main floor. Hardwood and tile flooring are beautifully used throughout.
Upstairs, the master bedroom with its own ensuite, plus two additional bedrooms and full bath are found. The master ensuite is exquisite in its design including Corinthian columns on the deluxe double sink vanity with tower and a bank of drawers. What more could you ask for? Of course: the Niagra corner jetted waterfall tub and the skylight!
The fully developed basement features a “huge rec/games room”, continues Nancy, taking advantage of the pond view. Another bedroom and full bath are located on this walk-out level.
“This house has wonderful storage,” says Nancy, as is evident with many closets located on each floor of the home.
Lots range from $98,900 to $194,900. The Stratford starts at $496,000 including show home extras, plus lot and applicable taxes.
To find The Stratford from Calgary, drive north on the Deerfoot Trail to Big Hill Springs Road, head west and follow the signs. Show home hours are Monday to Thursday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays noon – 5 p.m. NL
