Living it up in Lincoln Park
Artisan Homes builds with military precision, artistic flair in Garrison Green
TAKING A STROLL through this pedestrian friendly neighbourhood, you might have a sense of déjà vu, and rightly so. The developer, Canada Lands Company, and Artisan Homes have renewed the former Permanent Military Quarters (PMQ’s) found in CFB Lincoln Park to create Garrison Green.
The homes are built for families and professionals alike bringing to mind a bygone era, yet all have the modern conveniences available today.
The footprint of the area has changed tremendously since Canada Lands Company has developed the former military base. Artisan Homes has been with the development since the beginning, stressing “tradition, integrity and experience”. Streets have been renamed and reconfigured; the houses have been put onto new foundations and then made into homes for those with discerning tastes. Add to this the mature urban forest, and Garrison Green has evolved into a very desirable location.
Four distinctive exterior styles are available for the residents in Garrison Green: Colonial, Craftsman, Victorian, and Tudor, with the same interior quality found in all Artisan Homes. Standard features include soaker tub in main bath, granite kitchen counter tops, Decora switches and plugs, brushed chrome hardware, gas fireplace with mantle, hardwood floors on the main level, a gas line for a barbeque, and maintenance free exteriors. Landscaping, fencing and a double garage are also included in the purchase price. “We take pride in offering a high level of quality specs that we include as standard,” states Vie Bates, Sales Representative for Artisan Homes.
Most recently, they have taken these houses a step further. Vie explains how they have now added an extension to the back of some of the houses. “These revitalized homes have additional square footage in the basement, on the main floor and on the upper level.”
The 1,960 square foot, two storey refurbished Craftsman styled show home boasts a front verandah. In the foyer, look for the unique antique styled floral light fixture. The den alongside the dining room, great room and kitchen are located on the main floor. “The brushed copper surround on the fireplace and the copper hood fan add an elegant flair,” says Vie. The island in the kitchen has a breakfast bar on one side with a spacious dining area nearby. The kitchen’s tarragon maple cabinetry is rich and well designed. A corner pantry adds to the storage space. Just off the mudroom, with bench seat, a convenient half bath is found.
A large window as well as the coordinating floral glass light fixture provides plenty of light as you head up the stairs to the second floor where a spacious laundry room is located. You will also find the airy master bedroom which is part of the extension featuring a vaulted ceiling and a two sided gas fireplace. Gracing one wall is a large picture window with a view of two of Calgary’s tallest skyscrapers. A tiled shower, jetted Mirolin tub, and double vanity make up the stunning ensuite. A walk-in closet with its own window sets the tone for the elegance of this space.
Two additional bedrooms and full bath complete the second floor.
Heather Basaraba, an associate with Artisan Homes, is very pleased with her purchase, having moved into an Artisan home last fall. She and her family chose Garrison Green because of the area’s revitalization. “I love my home!”
With its proximity to Downtown Calgary and Mount Royal College, Garrison Green is centrally located to many amenities. “This has been a very exciting and unique project and we have found a tremendous interest and demand for our homes,” explains Vie, “we have only one phase left!”
