Coventry Hills
Convenient • attractive • Affordable
GENSTAR’S north-central community of Coventry Hills has been growing along Country Hills Boulevard, just west of Deerfoot Trail, for ten years now. Though it is already an established, flourishing community, it is still developing, with four single-family builders selling homes from three different show home parades.
Though there are available lots to sustain sales until next year, Marcello Chiacchia, senior development manager for Genstar Development Corporation, explains that homes in the area are selling fast. “The area is selling itself,” he says. “We can’t keep up.”
The original community, New Haven of Coventry Hills, is fully developed. The portion still under development is a 350-acre, 2000-home area started in 2000, with the majority of the space owned by Genstar and a portion of the land, Coventry Park, under development by Apex Land.
Indeed, the community is not hard to sell. Whether buyers are looking for shopping, schools, park space and activities, a convenient location, an attractive home at an affordable price, or all of the above, they can find the home that meets their needs in Coventry Hills.
“It’s just a nice community,” says Tom Gruenwald, area manager with Excel Homes. “It’s got good builders, and it’s still affordable.”
Buyers in the market for single-family homes have four builders to choose from in Coventry Hills: Excel Homes, Carolina Homes, Jayman MasterBuilt and Cedarglen Homes. Excel and Carolina share a parade, while Jayman and Cedarglen each have their own.
Excel Homes showcases four floor plans in their parade: two with garage and two without. The three-bedroom, two-storey Ashburn stands out. While the home does not include a garage, it does come complete with plenty of style. A wide front veranda welcomes visitors, and inside, a unique and homey floor plan draws you in. From the foyer, the living room opens to your right, with a hallway to the back of the home directly ahead of you, and a central staircase creating an interesting division of the open layout.
The living room features a stone fireplace with a high mantle and entertainment nook, and looks into the kitchen, which boasts plenty of closet space, an island, a dining area and a built-in desk.
Carolina Homes offers four show homes – one with garage and three without – in the same parade. Here, the standout is the bi-level, 1616 square feet. Winston III. A distinctive foyer with a variety of built-in shelving sets the tone for the home, and from here, one set of stairs leads up to the main level, another, down to the lower level.
The highlight of the upper level is the open kitchen, dining and great room area, with access to the back deck. In the kitchen, a large island with dual sinks encourages family gathering, and the cook will appreciate the corner pantry. The great room features a corner stone fireplace, and flows into the dining nook, which overlooks the front entrance. The master suite, second bedroom and main bath are located at the front of the main floor.
On the lower level, the large open family room is set up for relaxing or entertaining. A second bathroom and third bedroom are also located on this level.
Jayman MasterBuilt offers two show homes, each with a garage, in a separate parade. Of the two-storey New Horizon and the split-level Aura, the 2197 square foot Aura’s unique layout makes it a home you won’t soon forget. The sunny entranceway features a vaulted ceiling and display shelving, with stairs leading down to the rec room and up to the main and upper levels. The main level is the hub of the home, with the master suite as well as an open-concept living area. A vaulted ceiling adds to the open feeling, and ceiling-level display shelving surrounds the kitchen. Highlights include a long island with breakfast bar, corner pantry, and dining room with a view of the backyard and deck. In the great room, two quaint windows frame a fireplace with built-in entertainment nook.
The master bedroom features a walk-in closet, as well as a wide extra closet and a linen closet, and offers access to the Jack-and-Jill main bathroom. Two more bedrooms and another bathroom are located on the top level of the Aura.
The lower floor has a lounge feel, with lots of space for entertaining and a deluxe wet bar.
Cedarglen Homes also has a separate parade to showcase four semi-detached floor plans: the Magenta and the Indigo I, III and IV. The 1343 square foot Indigo is cozy and practical. From the front foyer, the Indigo opens into a great room with corner fireplace.
The Indigo III floor plan is nearly the same as the Indigo I, but with two full suites on the second floor – each with walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. The Indigo IV is even closer in layout to the Indigo I, the only difference being an ensuite bathroom in the master suite where the walk-in closet is located in the Indigo I.
Coventry Hills is nearing completion, which is expected by the end of next year. Take Country Hills Boulevard west from Deerfoot Trail, turn right on Coventry Hills Boulevard and watch for the signs to access the show homes. NL
