Set amongst the stands of natural, mature aspens, the show home in Spring Valley has a commanding view of the foothills and Rockies.

"Bringing the mountains into the city,” is how Heather McKenzie, Marketing Representative for Legend Developments Ltd., describes custom builder Dak Kerr’s vision of blending both city and country living together.   “It is important to Dak to keep as many trees,” continues Heather, “and to disturb the land as little as possible.”

The walk-up bungalow with 3,700 square feet of living space has been sold and it is easy to understand why. Standard features include nine foot ceilings throughout both levels, eight foot solid hardboard closet and passage doors, granite countertops in the kitchen and baths, six inch baseboards and three and a quarter inch window and door casings, plus a cement tiled roof. The twenty estate bungalows, all set upon oversized lots in this exclusive gated enclave offer a lifestyle free of lawn maintenance and snow removal.  “The owners can lock up and go, knowing their home is cared for when they are gone,” says Patti Salé, Marketing Coordinator. “These homes are ideal for those people looking to downsize from acreages or a large family home and still maintain space and privacy. Spring Valley Lane offers the unique combination of carefree condo living in fully detached custom homes on estate sized lots.

The show home’s entry level consists of the family room with media centre and built-in cabinets, bedroom and full bath, plus a laundry room, which doubles as a mudroom featuring a bench seat and locker set up.  Abundant storage space is evident throughout.

Beautiful tile and wood steps lead to the upper level.  The floor to ceiling window grouping, including the back door, brings in a great deal of natural light.

“All the windows in the house supply all the light you’ll need during the day,” states Heather.  And of course, they take advantage of the gorgeous views.

“The house was built for entertaining,” explains Heather. The kitchen, nook and open concept den/flex room share space and the vaulted ceiling on the upper floor with the great room and dining room.  A double sided stacked rock gas fireplace with full wrap mantle and wet bar with wine fridge, separate the two rooms.  The custom cabinetry, created with both quarter cut white oak and cherry woods coordinate with the black granite, black AGA gas range and the glass door Sub-Zero fridge.  A breakfast bar allows for additional seating for guests or casual dining for the owners.  Mixed and matched hardware contributes to the sophisticated “cottage chic” ambiance of the home.  Wood reclaimed from a one hundred year old barn east of Claresholm, Alberta was reborn in Legend Developments’ show home to become its unique flooring throughout the living spaces.

The master suite is spacious and airy with its vaulted ceiling. The ensuite includes a double vanity, steam shower and jetted tub.  The expansive walk-through closet features many built-in drawers and shelves.  The third bedroom, with its own ensuite, provides plenty of room for company.

“Dak works directly with each client from the very beginning, through the design process to completion, creating homes that express each client’s taste and lifestyle,” says Patti.  “Spring Valley Lane will feature twenty very unique and very special homes.”

Lots start at $249,000 and prices for the homes begin at $850,000, including landscaping and paving stone driveway.

Stories are told.  See how a legend is made. NL
