When it comes to building new homes there are various stages in the building process.
Home: The Montclair II, by Landmark Homes
Designer: Richard Toth
Every house that becomes a home originally starts out as an idea. Architects and designers of homes are responsible for creating beautiful floor plans, creative spaces and features that can be functional as well as aesthetic. Not every home is created by just one person. Quite often it takes a team of professionals to bring an idea through various stages to reach the final product. Richard Toth, Head Designer and Drafting Manager with Landmark Homes, brings all these stages to a beautiful conclusion. With Landmark for just under a year, Richard’s expertise is quickly revealing itself in the homes that are becoming quite popular in many communities.
One plan that Richard particularly likes is called the Montclair II, a beautiful home that is currently showcased in the community of Evergreen Estates. This 2800 square feet two- storey home offers a luxurious floor plan for buyers who enjoy some of the finer things in life. Richard says that one of the biggest selling features of the Monclair II is its spaciousness. “The Montclair II has a really bright open feel to it and you notice just how bright it is when you first walk in,” says Richard. “The great big windows in the Great Room add to the light of the main floor.”
In addition to the fabulous lighting and the size of the home, Richard says that the floor plan also incorporates modern clean lines and functional design features. “The main floor flows nicely; it’s not all chopped up,” says Richard. “There are none of the traditional barriers from room to room.” Richard also says that he personally likes the whole rear treatment with the eating area pushed to one side. The dining room gives the appearance of a separate room while being open to the great room, kitchen and nook. All the windows at the back of the house, along with the entrance from the deck do indeed allow the light to pour in to the main floor. Richard says that the nine foot ceilings on the main floor enhance the feeling of spaciousness in this great floor plan. When asked what other features this floor plan has to offer, Richard has no difficulty in listing them. “There are two lifestyle rooms; one up and one down, a child’s play area, and a bonus room,” says Richard. “As well, the show home has the optional computer centre with the built-in desk and cabinets; just another feature that’s great for families.”
Richard says that he was brought in part way through the development of the Monclair II and had an influence on the exterior in compliance with architectural controls. So far, he has helped design three new models for the company. It just goes to show that sometimes it can take a team effort as well as individual expertise to create beautiful homes built to standards that homeowners have come to expect. NL
