When you combine the value, quality and expertise of one of Calgary's premiere homebuilders with the attention to detail and thorough planning offered by a lauded and respected developer, only good things can happen.

Such is the case with Cedarglen Homes and Genstar development company, who will combine forces to create an urban-living oasis in Hanson Ridge, a new northwest neighborhood currently being developed and which is an extension of the immensely popular landscape that includes the communities of Hanson Ranch and Panorama.

"This project is an extension of Hanson Ranch, which has an incredible look and feel," explains Bruce Hall, senior vice-president of Cedarglen Homes. "We and Cardel (Custom Homes) have an exclusive agreement with Genstar to provide housing in Hanson Ridge."

All of the approximately 300 homes that will be built in Hanson Ridge will offer an advanced design wiring system which will enable residents to integrate the latest technology into their lifestyles. As such, Hall says the e -homes can be fully connected to the Internet, as well as internal features such as climate control and home security.

"It's an e-community," Hall says. "It allows for the smart use of technology."

In the initial phase of development, Cedarglen Homes will construct about 50 homes, which will be in the $260,000 to $450,000 price range."The initial phase, which is fairly substantial, will see 30 per cent to 40 per cent having some form of view, which is hard to find in the north-central corridor," Hall says."This community is the highest point in the Panorama area and there's absolutely beautiful valley views."

Cedarglen Homes is currently constructing two show homes in the area and will feature two of the company's most popular models, the Genesis VIII and the Logan II. "The Genesis VIII is very open from the great room to the kitchen - it's 30-feet across," says David Chu, Cedarglen area manager for Hanson Ridge.  "As well, there's a fairly big nook off the kitchen and a den on the main floor." The 2,231 square foot, three-bedroom show home also features a gas fireplace in the great room, nine-foot ceilings in the main floor, a main floor den and double vaulted ceiling in the bonus room.

The master bedroom ensuite is exquisite and offers abundant natural light thanks to a 4 foot by 4 foot skylight. The 2,240 square foot Logan II also has a very open layout and includes three bedrooms and a loft at the back of the home "This home has 2.5 bathrooms, a very open floor plan that includes a dining room off the kitchen," Chu says. "And instead of a den, this model comes with a good sized flex room."

The Logan II also comes complete with an ensuite that includes double vanities and a soaker tub and a gas fireplace in the great room. Although the Genesis VIII and the Logan II are the featured show homes, Hall says buyers will be able to choose models from Cedarglen Homes' extensive inventory. "We've got approximately 100 models to choose from," he says. "As well, we will customize or fully customize any home anyone wants."
Residents of Hanson Ranch will benefit from a wide array of existing amenities in the area.

"All the amenities that you could possibly want are close at hand," Hall says. "From shopping to recreation to great transportation corridors via Deerfoot Trail, Country Hills Blvd. and the Stony Trail connector that will soon commence construction, this area has everything you could ask for." The grand opening of the show homes will take place April 30. A sales centre, located at 371 Hidden Creek Blvd., is currently open.
