Unveiled in early June, Saddlebrook is one of Calgary’s newest areas. Its proximity to the highway and the Calgary International airport make it a desirable location, as well as the amenities offered in the more established nearby communities. Quite often in a new area there are few facilities or services offered at first, but in Saddlebrook there are nearby recreational facilities and leisure amenities that compliment the picturesque prairie-like setting of this new community.

This three-phase project will offer 500 lots with beautiful housing by quality builders such as Elite Homes, Pacesetter, Trico and Shane Homes. All this will be offered in a natural setting with a pond, walkways and a view of the not-so-distant Rocky Mountains. The newest show home parade consists of four beautiful garage-less homes, perfect for young people, singles, couples or young families.

First up in the parade is the Marconi from Pacesetter Homes in the Sterling group of companies. The Marconi is a 1339 square foot home with three bedrooms, a full bathroom and two half bathrooms. As you enter the front foyer, you are greeted with the bright living room, dining room, and stairwell to the upper level. As well, nestled in the crook of the stairwell is a small nook that makes a perfect little entertainment centre, making good use of that space and adding a contemporary architectural touch. As you continue through the main floor, the open kitchen and eating nook are separated from living and dining areas by a small doorway, serving to separate the two areas. This kitchen area is also bright and roomy, with an attractive island and sliding patio doors and a window to light the room. However, with the separation from the rest of the main floor, this area becomes the cozy, homey area of the house where family and friends can prepare and share meals together. The corner sink and walk-in pantry maximize space while enhancing the appearance of the room. The half-bath is also accessible from this area, and is both functional and attractive. The upper level of the Marconi includes the full bathroom as well as a half-bath ensuite that can be upgraded to include a shower-stall. All the bedrooms have bright windows and spacious closets which make this home perfect for young families.

Next in line in the show home parade is the Monaco, one of the Creations by Shane Homes. This 1606 square foot home offers a spacious floor plan with again the living room and dining room being separate from the eating nook and kitchen, and the stairway to the upper floor being at the front foyer. However, the bright bay windows in the living room reaching nearly from ceiling to floor, definitely have the potential to brighten up the area. Once you enter the kitchen-nook area of this showhome, one of the first things you will notice is the highly glossed floor tiles that are incorporated into this design. Along with the rich dark colours, set off by the white cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, the kitchen and eating nook offer a feeling of contemporary luxury. This feeling of luxury is carried through to the upper level where the master and master ensuite are both incredibly spacious and rich in design. The master bedroom includes a large window and some built-in cabinetry to maximize space, but it’s the ensuite that really grabs your attention. This features a glass shower stall and a luxurious corner soaker-tub with two large feature windows surrounding it. Elegantly tiled floors and walls add to the feel of opulence in this room, and one of the unique features of this room is the walk-in closet at the back of it. The other nice thing about the Monaco is the upper-floor laundry that allows the washer and dryer to be closeted away. This is just another great feature of this beautiful home.

Next up in the Saddlebrook show home parade is the Laurel by Elite Homes. This 1369 square foot home features warm hardwood flooring throughout the main floor, and an attractive living room fireplace. The kitchen and eating nook feature a raised eating island and large patio doors, with the warmth of wooden cabinetry and tiled backsplashes. This area is both a functional and elegant place to cook and socialize with family and friends.

Open to the nook, the elegant white banisters leading up to the second floor add a contemporary look, which is completed once you reach the upper level, by a stub wall and huge window that allow the light to flood this floor. The master bedroom of the Laurel offers a unique design that has the walk-in closet and the ensuite at either end of the room, keeping them completely separated and allowing for a dresser, hutch or entertainment unit to fit between the two entrance doors. This spacious bedroom also has a huge window that again allows in a great amount of light. This floor plan offers two full baths on the upper floor, and a half bath on the lower, just perfect for families and visitors.

Last but not least in this parade of Saddlebrook homes is the 1084 square foot Delphi by Trico Select. This attractive bungalow offers the option of developing the basement, and the show home gives potential buyers an idea of what can be accomplished by doing so. The main floor offers a master suite with two smaller bedrooms, a full bathroom and laundry room and an open concept kitchen, eating nook and living room. This style of home is designed for those families or singles that are on the go, with everything being handy and functional, while being stylish and giving a feeling of openness and space. For a smaller home, the Delphi has it all. The living room incorporates a large three-paned window and beautiful fireplace, while the kitchen offers classy black appliances, wooden cabinetry and lots of higher decorative nooks and spaces. The developed basement however, will definitely appeal to singles and working professionals, with a lower bedroom suite, a portable bar, and a huge entertainment and games room. Here is where the imagination can really take over if one were to decide to develop the basement. This home would be perfect for couples or families just starting out, or for singles that simply enjoy life.

Any of these homes would be nice to live in, and Saddlebrook would make a nice place to settle down and enjoy life. With life getting more and more complicated every day, it’s nice to know that some things can remain simple and that contemporary living can be combined with traditional values and a great neighborhood. If you are interested in taking a look at these showhomes, they are located on 68th Street, south of Country Hills Blvd.
