The Crossley Difference
For 28 years, Crossley Homes has distinguished themselves by the top quality homes they have designed and built, but the real difference is their overall focus on family values
Crossley Homes has valued customer satisfaction above all else, building quality homes for over a quarter of a century to great acclaim. But it is the family values that influence all their designs and strengthens their customer service that has set them apart. And no one knows this more than their satisfied customers.
Ada and Eric Dugan have been married for the past two decades, both are in their second marriages and they lived 12 years of it in a Crossley-built two-storey home in Calgary’s northeast. Now that they are in their 80s, they felt it was a time for a change and that their home was too big to take care of by themselves.
“When we heard that Crossley Homes was building estate villas in Okotoks we felt we had to see them,” Ada says. “And because the first home we had in Harvest Hills was built by Crossley, we knew it would be of a quality and design we can trust,” Eric adds. “You wouldn’t buy from the same people again if you didn’t like what they had, and we obviously did.”
When they saw the houses Crossley was building at The Villas of Cimarron Estates in Okotoks, they knew immediately that this was the answer. “It was everything we hoped it would be. Its’ maintenance-free lifestyle was always important to us, and the open floor plan that left a lot of room for entertaining and the high vaulted ceilings that seemed to make it more spacious were also important,” Eric says.
“And that everything was on one floor made it so easy for us, we didn’t want to negotiate any more stairs than we have to,” Ada points out. The 1,176-square-foot Paterson villa they bought is significantly smaller than the 1,550-square-foot, two-storey home they’ve lived in. “But it feels like we gained more in terms of the livability of the home,” says Eric.
The right fit
The Villas of Cimarron Estates in Okotoks is a 40-unit bungalow villa development right on the edge of the Sheep River Valley, an exclusive enclave with a park right on its’ edge and miles of walking and biking paths surrounding it. “It’s a very friendly neighbourhood. We’ve already made as many friends here in three months as we had in 12 years in our previous home,” Eric says.
“Furthermore, the team at Crossley Homes have not only treated us fairly and with kindness, they treat us like part of the family,” she says. “Once a Crossley Home owner, always a Crossley Home owner,” Eric adds.
This has always been the objective at Crossley Homes. In their 28 years in the business, they make sure that all their clients feel as though they are part of the family.
“Building a well-designed home with the highest standards is only part of what makes us who we are. Offering the utmost in customer service during the entire process and all the assistance they need even afterwards is what sets us apart,” says Anne Crossley, who along with her husband, Jim, has assembled a top-notch team that carries out their vision of building family-friendly homes and even more customer-oriented service.
Neighbourly neighbourhoods
The renowned builder has several new, distinctive show homes in Okotoks and High River, areas known to hold on to their small town values yet have all the amenities readily at hand for an ease-of-living lifestyle. All these homes have the trademark Crossley attention to detail and a practical approach with a sense of distinct style. Upgrades have been kept to a minimum to ensure viewers can get a true appreciation of the models.
“We were attracted to the Crossley show homes in Crystal Green in Okotoks, found out a little about the company and we were drawn to a real sense of family-friendly values that were reflected in the design of the home and which the company practices,” says Alana Young, who along with husband, Neal, and their three boys, Hunter, 8, Cole, 5, and Ty, 2, have settled in quite nicely in their spacious Fraser V home in this new Okotoks community.
The 2,078-square-foot Fraser V (standard model) provides plenty of space and “yet feels cozy,” adds Neal. “That Crossley was amenable to all the changes we wanted done to the plan and then going the extra mile to fix whatever needed fixing quickly made this second home buying experience for us very smooth and pleasant.”
The Young’s needed four bedrooms and a developed basement for their growing family. “There’s already a lot of people in the house plus our pets, but we just love having people over and the house still has plenty of room left for entertaining,” Alana says.
Neal loves the community. “Crystal Green just feels so much safer than our old neighbourhood in (Calgary’s) northwest. Here we have no worries letting the children play outside.” He says also that as soon as they’re settled he can’t wait to try out Crystal Green’s own nine-hole golf course.
“We couldn’t be happier with our new home and the community, and we have Crossley to thank for that,” Alana says.
Superior service
Crossley’s show homes in the High River neighbourhoods of Montrose and Highwood have also been popular. Patricia D. found peace with the Peace I model she bought with her husband, Farsin, in Montrose.
“Its very practical and very stylish at the same time, but with two young boys, we love the practicality side of it better,” Patricia says. “The big mudroom is perfect for us and provides a great transition from the garage.”
This particular feature is very popular, says Crossley’s High River area manager, Joe Belland. “It’s good for active families with kids involved in team sports. They can just leave their hockey gear or golf bags in this big mudroom coming off the garage.”
An integral part of what has made Crossley’s home buying process so popular is the interior selection service provided by Catherine Crossley, who chauffeurs the buyers to over 85,000 square-feet of show rooms for an entire day. Catherine helps them co-ordinate the look, colours and feel of their new home.
“Catherine is great, she helped us pick out the décor of the house, determine a style and feel for it that suits our lifestyle,” Patricia says.
“She was just wonderful, she went out of her way to accommodate us and what she had suggested for our home pulled off the look we had envisioned together,” Alana adds.
It is this dedication to service in all its forms that has distinguished Crossley and has made it the reliable builder it’s always been for nearly 30 years. NL
