Lap of Luxury in Cranston
If a triple car garage suits your lifestyle, and a price in the upper $300,000s suits your budget, don’t miss Greenboro Homes’ latest offerings in Cranston.
While three-car garages and spacious lots (typically 45 feet wide) are hard to find in Calgary’s new-home market, they’re far from the only reason for considering a Greenboro home in Cranleigh Close S.E.
Welcoming but practical layouts, imaginative features and high-quality finishes are some of the other attractions that make the Cranleigh Close show homes worth a visit.
The street is a secluded cul de sac that curves twice and loops around a green island at the end of the street. About half of the 32 homes to be built are still available – including the two show homes.
The third garages already house a few motorcycles, says Greenboro sales rep Ken Shrier, who points out that Cranleigh Close is the only place in Cranston to get a three-car garage, short of homes on the ridge where a lot alone goes for about $250,000.
Base prices range from $345,724 to $468,920, including lot and GST, but most of the available homes are in the upper $300,000s.
Four basic floor plans are available, but extensive variations are possible. While all four models are available with or without a bonus room over the garage, customer choice is running in favour of the bonus room. Not only does it provide handy extra space, it improves the face of the house, adding interest above the expanse of garage doors.
Floor space ranges from 2,068 square feet in the model 1 to 2,574 square feet in the model 4-B (which includes the bonus room.) The highest-priced home is a model 4-B on a pie-shaped lot covering more than a quarter of an acre.
Greenboro’s two show homes illustrate both ends of the range, though they also show off some optional extras.
A walkthrough of the show homes begins with the high-end model. The door from the garage leads through a mud room, into one of this model’s brilliant features – a walk-through pantry, with a wall of deep shelves on one side, leading straight to the kitchen. Doors at each end of the pantry keep everything looking tidy, and of course the refrigerator is right next to the pantry. It’s just one of the nicely-thought-out features in this home.
From the front door, guests are welcomed by a spacious foyer, with a coat closet and powder room right at hand. An archway marks the entry into the great room. The fireplace has windows above and on both sides, making it the focal point of the room in summer as well as winter.
The kitchen and eating bar open onto the great room and the dining area, which have access to an optional rear deck.
Opening off the great room is a “home management” space with an expansive built-in desk, ideal for a home office or the family computer.
Some clients prefer it with a French door, Shrier says, and some have had its entrance moved to the hall between the foyer and the mud room. One buyer even had it converted to an extra-large pantry.
A distinctive staircase leads up from the foyer, splitting at the landing – one side leading to the bonus room, the other to the bedrooms.
The master bedroom features a spacious walk-in closet and an ensuite bath with outsized shower stall and soaker tub. Two more baths, a second full bath and a large linen closet complete the second floor.
The bonus room, on a level of its own, has a large arch-topped window. In the show home there’s a spectacular view west to the Rockies.
The second show home is slightly more modest but still full-featured. A flex room at the front entrance can be used in any way that suits a busy family. The great room and dining area are only slightly smaller, and the kitchen has a walk-in pantry.
Upstairs the three bedrooms, with one full bath plus an ensuite, are generously sized. An office area opening onto the second floor landing could easily be converted to house laundry equipment.
The show homes are currently for sale: the Model 4-B for $396,350, and the Model 1 for $363,600.
