Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to take a stroll around a beautifully landscaped pond, pleasure in the gentle breezes and breathe the fresh air, all in your own community? How about having a picnic with friends or family and running for cover under a sheltered gazebo during a gentle spring shower? If you appreciate lush green-spaces and a home in a natural setting then you’ll want to live in Evanston, Calgary’s newest Northwest community.

Designing family-oriented communities for over fifty years, Qualico Communities offers five of Calgary’s top builders to choose from when selecting a home in Evanston.  Built with classic inner-city architecture in mind, reminiscent of Early Calgary design, Evanston homes bring an historical look to this fresh new neighbourhood.  Together with spacious backyards and large front porches, Evanston homes embody the perfect family setting with a warm and inviting neighbourhood atmosphere.  With such renowned builders as Sterling, NuVista, Jager, Trico and Broadview Homes, the hardest decision you will have to make is which home to choose!

The showhomes range in size from 1514 Sq-ft. all the way up to 2090 sq-ft. allowing homebuyers a broad choice in both style and dimension.  Starting as low as $170,000 and ranging into the $300,000 range, based on options, there is an Evanston home for every type of family.  As you enter the community you see the sheltered gazebo and playground where children can play and parents can relax, in addition to the enjoyable picnic areas.  All these features offer a glimpse of what this neighbourhood is all about. The paths and walkways are the finishing touch to the Evanston family theme.

The first builder in the showhome parade is Trico with their bright and spacious Hathaway.  This beautiful home offers a fully developed basement with large windows (enabling the buyer to have bedrooms on the lower level), stunning hardwood floors from the front entrance straight through to the kitchen and a gorgeous vaulted ceiling.  The eating nook leads out onto the optional deck through a stylish french door, where one could slip outside and enjoy a relaxing breakfast on a sunny morning.

Next, Broadview Homes presents the Oasis, which is just that.  With a more contemporary style, this home offers a row of high windows in the second-floor bonus-room, allowing light to filter in and giving the area an exotic look. The luxurious and huge ensuite bathroom adds elegance to the large master bedroom and features a gorgeous soaker-tub allowing for long leisurely baths.  Over all, the entire house has an air of mystery and extravagance.

NuVista’s Pinnacle may be nestled between the other showhomes, but there is nothing cramped about their style.  With an incredibly open floor plan the Pinnacle’s rich hardwood floors lead into the awesome kitchen and with the option of leaving out the island, family and friends can gather there.  However, with the great room being open to the other rooms, and a raised eating bar separating the dining area from the kitchen, space is not an issue which makes this a great floor for entertaining.

Jager Homes’ choice of showhome is the Sorrento.  With the front entrance open to the upper floor, cathedral-style, the light streams in and becomes a focal point of this beautiful home.  As you move through the rest of the house you are treated to a stylish yet functional kitchen with corner pantry and bright eating nook.  What is wonderful about this particular kitchen is the option between six different types of granite counter-tops, which add a richness to any décor.

Last but not least is Sterling’s Tahoe 2.  This particular design offers a large foyer, which is also open to the upper level, and the main-floor great room features a fireplace with a built-in TV shelf.  There is also a fireplace in the bonus room, which is a really nice element, but what is really spectacular is the master bedroom and ensuite.  The rounded wall corners are one of the first noticeable features in this room, but the elegant open-archway leading into the ensuite and the luxurious corner tub is truly beautiful.

Whether you enjoy the exquisite design options and variety offered by these home- builders, or are partial to the community itself, Evanston is definitely a community that has something for everyone.  The Symons Valley area offers natural beauty and grasslands the whole family can enjoy, and the Symons Valley Barbeque Ranch is only minutes away.  Why not make a day of it and check out these beautiful showhomes for yourself.  As well, a whole new collection of showhomes by these builders, offering even more options, will have their Grand Opening the beginning of June, as the new phase begins.

Lori Masse, Qualico’s Marketing Coordinator says that access into Evanston is incredibly easy and eventually the Stoney Trail expansion will make it even easier.  “Really, anywhere in the city is totally accessible from Evanston just because it’s so close to major roadway systems.” Says Masse.  With access to the Country Hills Towne Centre, the Nose Creek Recreation Centre and the Country Hills Golf course to name a few amenities, Evanston offers more services than some new communities are able to.  Evanston is a great community for families on the go, and also those families who have the time for a little recreational fun.  If you would like to know more about Qualico and this community you can log on to their website at: or visit their showhomes in person.

To check out Evanston’s current showhomes, take Deerfoot Trail north or Country Hills Boulevard to Beddington Trail and head northwest to Symons Valley Road. The turn-off at Panorama Road takes you directly to Evanston. Once you’re there you’ll know you’re home.
