Delight in the details
A curving staircase provides the drama, and huge windows gives the soft lighting, this dazzler by WestView Builders exudes elegance
WestView Builders has prided itself in building homes of elegance and distinction, their show home in the new High River community of Montrose captures these ideals and more with its captivating design flair.
The Malone is a study in style and sophistication that families will love and enjoy, a spacious main floor perfect for entertaining and a stylish chef’s kitchen that will be at home in a Martha Stewart show, topped by stately hardwood flooring, stone accents in the mantle and the island, and gleaming granite countertops that give the main floor a distinguished warmth, and functional practicality.
The 2,126-square-foot Malone has attracted a wide range of buyers; from couples, to young families, to those with older children and surprisingly enough, even empty-nesters. “We’ve sold a couple of this model to older couples in the Montrose community who find The Malone’s elegance, its rich design that makes it perfect for entertaining and its functional character very appealing for their lifestyle,” says WestView’s Cassandra Murray.
It is perhaps in testament to WestView’s widely regarded attention to detail and superior home design and quality that attracts buyers to The Malone, but its location in the family-friendly community of Montrose in the southern end of High River that undoubtedly has influenced buyers as well.
“This is a lovely community, with a very friendly atmosphere about it. And, despite being relatively new, it already has the comfortable lived-in quality about it, a small town charm that many find irresistible,” Murray adds. She herself lives in the community and is one of its biggest cheerleaders. “We just love it here, it’s the perfect place to raise my young children.”
The Malone boasts of a spacious foyer with plenty of room to welcome visitors, while its laundry/mudroom off the garage is equally spacious and serves a very practical purpose when bringing in groceries from the car. There is a lot of practicality in the design, Murray adds.
The angled kitchen counter is one of the most remarkable features of the home. It has a long, raised eating bar that makes it ground zero for parties. “Everyone can gather around here and still converse freely with people in the great room and the nook, and of course the terrific counter space gives the chef plenty of room to work in,” Murray says.
There is a big corner pantry and burnt sienna on maple cabinetry, a glass tile full-height backsplash further adds to the kitchen’s distinguished appearance.
The great room features a fireplace with distinctive designer rock face and a built-in niche for a widescreen TV. There is also a butler’s counter with matching tile backsplash for added convenience. “It’s a great place where you can do your bills and sort mail,” Murray says.
The grand curved staircase with wood and wrought iron railings gives a design punch that gives character and drama to the 954-square-foot main floor. The nine-foot ceiling in the main floor and the oversized windows also add to the very alluring surroundings.
The 1,172-square-foot upper floor is as enticing, especially the master bedroom with its luxurious attached ensuite with corner tub. The two other bedrooms are very generously sized, as well. “You get the feeling that a lot of the children’s bedrooms in a lot of houses these days feel like afterthoughts, but in The Malone, they are both equally 11-feet-and-nine-inches by 10-feet-and-eight-inches, giving kids plenty of their own space,” Murray adds.
The Malone starts at $400,000, which Murray says is very affordable for what it offers. “Nothing can beat the style and functionality that The Malone offers, and best of all, its location in the community of Montrose makes it perfect.”
