Majesty at the bay
Estate living in a suburban resort setting makes Genesis Builders Group’s Fairhaven in Bayside a runaway hit
Like a grand dame of the Maritimes, the Fairhaven show home from Genesis Builders Group has the East Coast charm and a stately elegance that befits a true estate home, but it is its location in the premiere Airdrie community of Bayside that really makes it sing.
Genesis’ 2,344-square-foot show home in Bayside evokes a stylish waterfront flair with its steep pitched roof lines and stone exterior detail. But it is its smartly functional interior layout that may be its biggest draw.
The king-sized Fairhaven is perfect for bigger families with its four rooms (all generously sized, none smaller than 10-by-9-feet) and bonus room upstairs, an astounding feature that is testament to its remarkable use of all available space. “It is an aesthetic success and a really functional dream home, where everyone in the family can have the privacy they need,” says area manager Lynn Abrams.
“The Fairhaven offers a lot by way of flexibility as well, giving clients additional options on how they can use the space,” she adds. “They can use the extra room as a gym or even a yoga room. But it benefits bigger families the most.”
The foyer — like all the other rooms in the house — is spacious and guest-friendly, where they have ample room to take off coats and feel welcome. The half-bath and mudroom are strategically located just off the garage entrance where they least interfere with the design flow but remain a convenient space for homeowners.
The 1,036-square-foot main floor provides the perfect setting for entertaining guests, the den in front can make a terrific piano room or office and the open design throughout ensures the free flow of conversation.
The show home’s exquisite design shows visitors all its enormous potentials, stately hardwood flooring blends well with the gleaming granite countertops along the kitchen and the huge centre island, while a distinctive ceramic tile design in the foyer and bathrooms completes an understated suburban chic look.
But the real attraction here is the community itself. Bayside, on the southwest side of Airdrie, is as close to coastal living as you can get in the landlocked province of Alberta. Bayside and its neighbouring community, The Canals (also a Genesis project), have water features running through both.
It is just 15 minutes north of Calgary and affords residents a sense of resort living in a suburban setting, Abrams says. “Some homes go right up to the water’s edge and you can launch your boat from the privacy of your own dock, but you don’t even have to be a boating aficionado to enjoy life here because it offers so much more.”
Architecturally, Bayside offers the look and feel of a charming seaside resort. The steep roof pitches, front verandas, and traditional decorative trim are reminiscent of the classical maritime style of the East coast. Each home’s unique elevation reflects the character of a coastal village. Besides the alluring water features, Bayside also has an integrated regional pathway system that connects the waterways, large green spaces, and the new Nose Creek Elementary School (grades K-4) making for easy access to everything.
“The best thing about it is that the pricing is very affordable, because Genesis is also the land developer and is more flexible when it comes to price,” Abrams says.
Besides the luxurious Fairhaven show home, Genesis also offers a huge choice of other models ranging from 1,261 to 2,650 square-feet. There are also a wide variety of lot options, with corner, green-space, walk-out, and waterfront lots available. Many of the estate lots also offer private water access and the capacity to install a private dock.
Perhaps the best bonus of all is the unprecedented affordability that Genesis offers new buyers in Bayside. “The best thing about the area is that there is literally something for everyone” says Abrams. With laned homes starting at just $279,900, double-attached garage homes from $340,000, and premium walkout waterfront homes priced from $450,000 Bayside is the perfect fit for first time homebuyers, growing families, or those looking to downsize and get away from the city sprawl.
