CalBridge Group’s amazing show home in Riversong is music to the senses

The Webster dictionary defines “melody” as a rhythmic succession of single tones organized as an aesthetic whole. It is a description that rings true when talking about CalBridge Group’s Melody show home in Riversong, as it is a home attuned to the needs of today’s families.

The 2,595-square-foot Melody is an estate home that is more than the sum of all its parts, as its highly functional and tasteful design has made it one of the builder’s most popular models. But it is how the whole floor plan just blends seamlessly from one room to the next that really makes the Melody sing.

“The Melody is one of our larger models and the show home sits in one of our premium lots in Riversong with terrific views all around, which really allows for this model to achieve its potential,” says CalBridge General Manager Tony Robinson.

“The fantastic view of the ravine right outside the show home just gives the open-to-above great room that much more character and dramatic appeal. It’s the one room that every visitor to the show home just falls in love with,” he tells New Home Living.

Two rows of windows stretching to the ceiling in the great room and more in the bonus room right above it gives the whole home an enviable abundance in natural lighting that lends a sunny, optimistic outlook to the interior.

“The natural light streaming in makes the home feel a lot bigger than it already is,” says sales associate, Marni Evans. “The roominess of the floor plan and its flowing design that makes use of every available space further enhances this feeling of spaciousness and freedom.”

The three-sided fireplace (a standard for the Melody) forms an elegant yet subtle demarcation line between the great room and the kitchen and dining areas, and can provide warmth for almost the entirety of the 1,291-square-foot main floor and still not be an impediment to the flow of the design.

Robinson says the Melody attracts a lot of families with older children, and it is designed to fit their needs, including a wide mudroom and laundry with plenty of storage space, and a spacious kitchen with lots of elbowroom. The centre island with raised eating bar is always a delightful feature for parties and large gatherings as well as quick meals for a family on the go.

“All the bedrooms upstairs have walk-in closets because older children would have a lot of their own stuff and having these features in the two extra bedrooms and not just the master bedroom addresses their needs,” Evans says.

Right off the foyer is a flex room with French doors, which can be a home office, library or den. “It would be a great piano room too, if you have musically-inclined children,” Evans adds.

The developed basement in the show home adds about 900 square-feet of living space, which is an added convenience to families with grown children. The way the basement at the show home is decorated with a wet bar and home theatre makes it even more attractive to kids.

The Melody can be bought for as low as $569,900 including lot and GST, but the show home itself is listed at $$729,000, Evans says. “It’s still very affordable considering the added value it has,” she adds.

But possibly the best thing going for the Melody is its location in the budding new neighbourhood of Riversong in Cochrane. “Riversong really has a unique look and feel to it, it has that heritage town feel with clean looking architecture and not overly complicated exteriors,” Robinson says.

“There is a pretty diverse selection of luxury homes — from townhomes, villas and estate homes — we offer a wider selection than any other development in the area,” he adds. “Also, there are still lots available backing onto the ravine — which is part of the municipal environmental reserve.”

Robinson says it’s almost like living in Canmore, with the mountain views and the access to the river pathways, but without the exorbitant resort town prices. “Riversong — and Cochrane itself — has a real special feel, not a mere extension of a metropolis, and still just a 15 minute drive to Calgary’s city limits.”
