Let liberty reign

Freedom from the ordinary is apparent in Jayman MasterBuilt’s Liberty

By definition, “liberty” means the freedom to act or think without being constrained by necessity or force, which makes the name of the latest show home masterpiece by Jayman MasterBuilt so appropriate.

The 2,440-square-foot Liberty model in Jayman’s latest show home parade in Auburn Bay is simply that: freedom from the ordinary, independence from inconvenience, very much a revolution in the way we think of a modern, suburban family home.

The feeling of freedom becomes apparent as soon as visitors step into its foyer, and what a foyer it is. Designed to be dynamic as much as it is dramatic, it is open to above and is specially spacious to comfortably greet guests and get them out of their overcoats. It also features a full sized window not just a slim sidelight that gives it a terrific amount of natural lighting. As if the coat closet here isn’t big enough, there are more closets and extra storage space in the adjoining mudroom to accommodate a growing family’s needs.

Daltille Vallano 12 x12-inch “macadamia” tile flooring stretches from the foyer to the mudroom and 3-1/4-inch planks of Mejor Jazz maple hardwood in Java stain through the rest of the 1,053-square-foot main floor give it a decidedly distinguished air.

Wood and wrought iron rails on the staircase, nine-foot ceilings (standards, by the way) and lots of big windows complement the main floor design but the Liberty is more than just the sum of all these parts. “It is a fabulous family home with panache, extremely well-designed for a medium sized family and the perfect home to have in a lake community like Auburn Bay,” says area manager Greg Mitchell.

It’s a stylish home with convenience in mind, there’s a 24-foot-deep attached garage that’s bigger than the standard in most homes these days, a walk-through pantry that has shelving on both sides, and more than enough kitchen cabinets and drawers to fit all kitchen tools and appliances everyone needs.

The Liberty certainly isn’t lacking in storage space, the master suite even has his-and-hers walk-in closets, there are two oversized linen closets and a big laundry room upstairs with enough room to fit a year’s worth of dirty linen (not that you would want to do that). The developed stairway to the basement is also standard, leading to an extra spacious basement that has plenty of potential for additional living space.

“It is a beautiful home, there’s no question, but it is also designed for a family to use and live in and not just a decorative show case,” Mitchell adds.

But that isn’t to say it lacks in the va-voom department, just check out the show home’s gorgeous Nordlund Gourmet Kitchen option. All gleaming granite and stainless steel appliances (top-of-the-line, energy-efficient GE appliances at that) laid out in such a way that maximizes the functional working space of the area.

The snazzy Euro ceramic glass and stone backsplash adds a little dash of urbane chic to the surroundings, and a centre island equipped with built-in wine rack and cooler adds even more working space to the L-shaped kitchen counter and turns it into an entertainment centerpiece for parties.

The second storey is another example of the builder’s keen innovative design, featuring both a big media centre for movie nights and a loft (turned into a piano room in the show home) that opens onto a balcony. “It really presents itself well as a house where you have no trouble entertaining lots of guests but still retains that quality of a cozy home for just the family,” Mitchell says.

The master bedroom is on the opposite side of the house from the two spare rooms, separated by the loft and media room for added privacy. The attached ensuite with his-and-hers vanities and soaker tub is a study in refined luxury as well.

“What we like to say is that Liberty is domestically engineered for real family living,” Mitchell says.
