A Trico triumph

The Kennedy is as stately and presidential as they come

Trico Homes hits the jackpot with the introduction of The Kennedy, its latest show home in the northwest community of Beacon Heights, that has been gathering all kinds of positive buzz and has leapfrogged to become one of the award-winning builder’s best sellers.

Demand has soared for the 2,420-square-foot two-storey home, says Trico Home’s Beacon Heights sales manager, Carmen Kostyshen, who has sold 10 of the beauties since the show home opened a few months ago.

“There are just a few lots left on Beacon Heights where we can build The Kennedy, which is 26-feet wide, and it’s getting hard to keep up with the demand,” she adds.

Why it has been so popular is easy to see, just step into the show home and be instantly amazed by the revolutionary way The Kennedy has taken in changing the way we look at suburban living space.

It’s more than just an open concept home, Kostyshen says, as it has a very multi-faceted way in providing the environment for a comfortable, functional home for the whole family. “It’s a sleek, modern multi-functional space that is as terrific for entertaining as it is for everyday life,” she adds.

The Kennedy opens with a flourish with its dramatic open-to-above foyer, and the show home’s East-meets-West décor brings out its enormous potentials. The designer tile flooring that greets you from the entrance and the bamboo hardwood throughout the rest of the main floor sets the tone for this fluid blending of these two styles.

“It has a very nice urban feel to it, and the big windows throughout make it feel like a swanky high-rise condo’s window-walls,” she says. It’s like downtown coming to the suburbs.

The eight-foot long centre island is a commanding presence in the middle of it all, with a raised eating bar and quartz stone top, it does make for an ideal party central spot. But its functionality is not lost, as along with the wide kitchen counters, it provides plenty of room for even the most elaborate dinner preparations.

Everything from the espresso stain cabinetry, the chic urban pulls, the designer backsplash and the sexy stainless steel appliances give it the allure of a gourmet kitchen, it’s a space no one would mind cooking in.

It also has a walk-thru pantry with double-sided shelving to really maximize the amount of storage space. A long hallway between the garage entrance and the pantry makes an ideal staging area for hockey and golf bags and other sports gear, handy for a quick loading and unloading to the car.

Upstairs is a minor miracle as well, with the bonus room strategically located in the centre between the master bedroom and the two other bedrooms. The drop-down ceiling in the bonus room adds to the stately ambience, as do the pot lights and built-in shelving.

There’s also a deacon’s bench by the arched window with built-in shelving and a computer desk next to it. “It provides a nice open space for kids to do their studies,” Kostyshen adds.

It is the sublime wonder of the master bedroom that takes the breath away. Done with a very modern eye, the show home’s master suite is a study in contemporary comfort. Its attached ensuite takes luxury to another level, topped off by the oversized spa bath that is literally three times the size of a standard shower stall.

The his-and-hers vanities and the soaker tub reeks of pampered elegance and the ensuite has the allure of a private spa.

This affluent luxury, however, does not come at an exorbitant cost, as The Kennedy starts at a very affordable $460,000, and Kostyshen says the show home itself is priced at about $565,000.

“It’s a very affordable move up, and the best part of it is it is in this exclusive enclave of Beacon Heights,” she says. It is part of the community of Sherwood and it’s near enough to the Beacon Hill amenities but stands quiet apart from the busy hub, she adds.
