The sound of jaws dropping and the sudden, sharp intake of breath are the sounds that usually accompany first-time visitors to Reid Built Homes’ latest show home in Airdrie, as the Addison wows with a kind of unique appeal that enchants anyone who walks through it.

The Addison is a 2,124-square-foot, two-storey triumph in the new Airdrie community of King’s Heights, a move-up that appeals to a wide range of buyers from single first-time buyers to young families to downsizers.

“For its size, it does appeal to a lot of singles and even retired couples, there is just so much to like about the home that fulfills the needs of any lifestyle,” says Reid Built Homes area manager, Karen Behiel.

“Addison is our biggest seller in King’s Heights and about 50 per cent of buyers are singles, or couples with no kids, because they can see the enormous potentials of the home and that it will still fulfill their needs even 15 years down the road,” she says.

“King’s Heights is the sort of neighbourhood where you plant your roots and where you can see yourself and your family grow, and not just an investment property.”

A grand welcoming foyer sets the tone for the home, with its designer tile flooring and natural maple hardwood leading homeowners into its open concept main floor.

It is a home built to entertain family and friends, a very stylish backdrop for any party. High ceilings create a feeling of grandeur and elegance, full ceiling height cabinetry with delicate glass inserts draw the eye up the nine-foot ceilings showcasing the ambience of the gourmet kitchen.

While overlooking the spacious breakfast nook, the oversized island with flush eating bar boast plenty of counter space for baking or cooking Sunday dinners for your family. The walk-through pantry has room for big grocery shopping excursions, while additional storage and recycling center can be found in the near by mudroom.  Stylish crown molding, dark maple cabinetry and tasteful finishing create a captivating setting of warmth and family living.

“The Addison’s kitchen certainly draws the most compliments and people immediately feel that it is a home where they can see themselves living in, and growing in, and grow old in,” Behiel says.

The open-riser staircase in the show home is also popular, particularly among the baby-boomers, Behiel points out. “It certainly adds a touch of elegance and makes the show home stand out from the crowd.”

The vaulted ceiling in the bonus room and master bedroom also give the Addison and extra design punch, and the upstairs laundry is a nice functional touch. “No one wants to go up and down the stairs with dirty laundry, right?”

The built-in Deacon’s benches in the master and bonus rooms are an added convenience and is a handy extra storage space that everyone needs, she says.

Best of all is the price. The Addison starts at $380,000 and the show home itself is available at only $499,900. “In a family-friendly community like King’s Heights the Addison really gives the best value — it’s what I like to call a castle at a pauper’s price.”
