The distinctive western prairie allure of Silverado in the southwest is captured in full by Shane Homes’ line of stylish move-up, mid-estate homes that put the “fun” in function in this friendly and family-oriented community.

“Our lots in Silverado are larger than the norm in these parts, we’re offering 38- to 40-foot-wide lots which really capture the essence and the spaciousness of the community,” says Shane Homes area manager for Silverado, Glenn Jorgensen.

“And with Silverado going into its final two phases, it really is a great value that I don’t want to see people miss out on,” he adds.

Sitting on the southwestern edge of the city, just off the intersection of Macleod Trail and Highway 22X, Silverado boasts almost all of the amenities today’s modern families crave. Shopping in big box and major grocery stores is just down the road at the Shawnessy commercial complex and being adjacent to major routes makes it accessible to virtually any part of the city.

“The South Calgary hospital is also nearby and is near completion, which means ease-of-mind for Silverado residents who are sure to enjoy an appreciable increase in property values down the road. The community also offers convenience to people who will be working there,” Jorgensen notes.

But what makes Silverado really attractive is the uniquely designed line of move-up homes that Shane Homes offers here. One look at its show home parade models — the Rio and the Triumph — along Silverado Skies Drive will leave no doubt that the award-winning builder has perfected the formula for creating a home with a family-oriented lifestyle.

“The Rio show home is designed with a comfortable, rustic country cottage look, while the Triumph show home has a more edgy, contemporary style, just to show visitors the wide range of possibilities that both homes have,” Jorgensen says. “But both are designed with today’s families in mind and offer the biggest value for their buck.”

First up is the Rio, a majestic 2,316-square-foot two-storey home that offers as much comfort as style. The show home itself is 2,387 square-feet after including many of the options that model offers, it is certainly this flexible design that has made it one of Shane Homes’ most popular models.

It has a cozy formal dining room off the foyer with a two-sided fireplace between it and the living room on the other side. “Next to its size, this lifestyle room is one of the Rio’s best features, and can be used by the family as either a formal dining room or as home office or even as a study room/library for kids,” Jorgensen says.

Unique ceramic tile flooring designed to look like hardwood gives it a very elegant, yet rustic allure. A walk-through pantry from the spacious mudroom gives extra storage convenience and the kitchen featuring a wide centre island with raised eating bar combines utilitarian function with stylish punch. “The kitchen has abundant workspace and even a number of people working simultaneously around it will have no trouble moving around,”
he adds.

The three-bedroom design upstairs is equally impressive with rooms that are sized more than adequately. “Sometimes the two extra rooms in most homes today leave you feeling that they are afterthoughts rather than integral parts of a family home, not so in the Rio where there is more than enough room for children as they grow and their needs change,” he points out. “It also has an option for a fourth bedroom.” The Rio starts at $470,000 while the show home can be built for around $485,000.

The Triumph is as judicious in its use of space, and even though at 1,865 square-feet, it still offers a flow and freedom of movement that is hard to match even in bigger models. In fact, the Triumph was one of the finalists in the 2009 SAM awards because of its terrific use of space.

“It has a very open concept and is a great house for entertaining that makes the great room, kitchen and dining room into one continuous space for an unimpeded flow in communication throughout the rooms during parties. We used marble flooring in the main floor to emphasize its sleek urban appeal.”

The Triumph starts at 1,865 square-feet for a base price of $425,000. The show home itself is 1,990 square-feet and can be built for $440,000.

Both homes also have upper floor laundry rooms in recognition of the convenience it allows families. “Around 90 per cent of what needs to go in the laundry is on the second floor, so we feel this will save families a lot of time and hassle of carrying laundry up and down stairs. Our laundry rooms are also very spacious and not mere closets that make it difficult to work in,” Jorgensen adds.

“With our very affordable price point and the fine quality of design and craftsmanship that Shane Homes has been known for, Silverado really offers the dream home many families are looking for today,” he points out. NL
