It’s been a big couple of month for Brookfield Homes, as the leading home building outfit that used to be known as Heartland Homes and Hawthorne Homes has merged under the new name. Even bigger is the opening of their new show home parade in Cranston, the first time they will have a single-family home presence in the popular southeast community.

“We’ve been in the community with our Mosaic in Cranston multi-family under our previous Hawthorne Homes brand, and this is our first opportunity to come into this very exciting community with our single-family homes and I think they’ll bring a new level of easy-living, stylish lifestyle in the community,” says Brookfield’s Jill Maryniuk.

Brookfield is opening five new show homes on April 16 and two of them will be brand new designs that aim to reflect even more Cranston’s family-friendly environment. There will be three two-storey home designs and two bungalows in the new parade ranging in size from 1,200 to 1,700 square-feet. And with prices starting at the low $300,000s, they are an affordable option to living in this community filled with million-dollar homes.

“Cranston is already established with plenty of amenities already within the community, including the newly opened Cranston Market which provides easy shopping, banking and entertainment convenience right in the neighbourhood,” Maryniuk says. “There’s also Cranston Hall, their massive community centre that adds to its easy-living charm.”

Miles and miles of walking and biking paths wind through Cranston that encourages the kind of healthy lifestyle approach which has become an important aspect in suburban dwellings. “You can actually walk down to the Bow River, Fish Creek Park is literally at your backyard with all its recreational opportunities, Cranston is getting to really be a terrific, self-contained community,” Maryniuk adds.

The planned Seton commercial district is also just down the road and the new South Calgary Hospital is also just five minutes away. “We’re seeing some hospital staff buy here because of the huge convenience our location offers them.”

Brookfield’s new show homes in Cranston reflect this sense of freedom and excitement, blending a sensible functionality with stylish panache that creates a timeless, family friendly environment. The Windsor, Torrisdale and Belvedere are among Brookfield’s most popular models and seem a perfect match for Cranston, while the Grandin and the Ashton II are new designs that make their initial appearance here.

The Ashton II is a two-storey, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath model that comes in at 1,650 square-feet. It features nine-foot ceilings on the main floor, curved staircase a large kitchen with island, rear mudroom and upper floor laundry. The master bedroom comes with an attached ensuite and walk-in closet. “It has two flex rooms that gives it a lot more usable living space, you can turn one into a tech centre where you can do the bills, and the other can be a dining room where you can entertain guests comfortably,” Maryniuk says.

“It has a little bit more living space than the Belvedere but has the astounding features that has made Belvedere such a hit, including the curved staircase and vaulted ceiling in the great room. It’s designed with the multitasking family in mind.”

The Grandin is a new bungalow model that features an even more spacious open concept design that makes it perfect for entertainment. “It’s a great layout that has plenty of flexibility, in fact, you can turn the Grandin into a two storey home if you want to,” she points out.

The kitchen is grand with lots of counter space to accommodate even the busiest chef, and the vaulted ceilings and big windows give it an air of executive elegance.

“Our homes here all have a feeling of luxury that’s meant to attract professional couples, young families or those looking to downsize, Brookfield offers more than just homes in Cranston, we offer a lifestyle.”
