Enchantment in Auburn Bay

Cedarglen Homes conjures up a real beauty in lake community

The dictionary defines enchant as “to charm, delight or captivate somebody,” and Cedarglen Homes’ latest show home in Auburn Bay, The Enchant, does accomplish all that with ease. But its name — as does its design — goes way beyond what this word traditionally means.

The Enchant is indeed mesmerizing and captivating with its superior use of space and function, but it is its small town flavour that is at the heart of its charm. “The Enchant was named after the small town of Enchant in southern Alberta, where Cedarglen president Scott Haggins maintains a farming business,” says Cedarglen sales and marketing manager, Allison Harvie. “He goes there to relax and unwind and it is this carefree, friendly feeling of a small town that we wanted to capture.”

The Enchant is part of Cedarglen’s line of new home models that are named after Alberta towns, and include models named after the prairie towns of Hanna and Berkley. “It’s a way we can stand out from the rest of the crowd and show our community spirit,” Harvie says.

The Enchant is a brand new design that opened September 10 at Auburn Bay’s newest show home parade. It has all the hallmarks of a stately estate home, with its especially warm design complemented by the buttermilk colour used for the cabinetry that goes well with the black granite-topped, dark oversized central island.

It may have a small town heart but nothing about this 2,287-square-foot home is small — from the oversized central island with extended ledge, to its beautiful big windows and full height kitchen cabinetry and nine-foot ceilings, The Enchant is “magical,” Harvie says.

“Cedarglen always tries to put a ‘wow’ moment in each of our show homes, and for the Enchant we came up with this magical sliding glass door in the den, it really makes the show home stand out and helps keep us in the mind of potential buyers who walk through,” she adds.

The bonus room that sits in the middle of the upper floor at the top of the stairs is another new design innovation at Cedarglen. “It gives families a central environment where they can connect and share a movie together, and also serves as a buffer zone to give each member of the family more privacy.”

The huge second floor laundry provides additional convenience to the busy family, and it’s big enough to include an ironing board and has built-in wire shelving.

The ensuite has a majestic soaker tub flanked by two individual vanities with vessel sinks, the shower stall is tiled all the way to the ceiling and features a heavy-gauge glass door. “The ensuite has a boutique hotel feeling, a kind of pampered luxury, and most of it is standard.”

The finish of the Enchant show home isn’t the only thing that will ‘wow’ clients, as Cedarglen is still offering a very comprehensive home buyers’ package for their 30th Anniversary celebrations this year. This includes landscaping and fencing and other tasty interior touches for anyone that builds with them in the southeast lake community of Auburn Bay.

“The idyllic lake cottage lifestyle that Auburn Bay evokes goes really well with our home designs,” Harvie says.  “We just received 83 new lots in Auburn Bay and we’re the exclusive builder in this exclusive move-up area so we can offer this really comprehensive package — including the cedar fencing and landscaping — with any home purchase.”

Each home receives granite or engineered stone countertops to kitchen, ensuite and main bath; an upgraded cabinetry package, five-inch engineered hardwood flooring; seven lineal feet of maple railing with wrought iron spindles; and ceramic tile flooring in mudroom/laundry and all bathrooms upstairs. As with all Cedarglen Homes, stainless steel appliance package and full-height backsplashes in kitchen are also included.

Best of all, every home in Auburn Bay receives a minimum EnerGuide 80 rating, which makes buyers eligible for at least $1,500 rebate from a federal sustainability program, while the program offers the rebate. “These energy-saving features have become the most important features our customers are looking for and offering this as a standard surpasses other builders’ standards,” Harvie says.

“This is just our way of giving back to the community that has been so supportive to us in the 30 years we’ve been in the business,” she adds.
