Shane Homes’ latest masterpiece is worth over $1.3 million and it looks every bit as heavenly as it sounds. Best of all, you can ‘buy’ it for as little as $100.

The 3,628-square-foot Delmar show home is the grand prize in the 2012 Kinsmen Lotto for the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and it’s nothing short of spectacular — an admirable exclamation point that punctuates Shane Homes’ 20-year involvement with this worthy charity that has raised more than $23 million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

This fully-furnished luxury home, located in the popular northwest community of The Ridges of Valley Pointe Estates, is worth exactly $1,331,460.57, all of which can be seen in the lavish, stylish three-bedroom and three-and-a-half bath lifestyle statement.

The very style of the home is what shapes its character, the two-storey foyer plus the 10-foot-tall ceilings on the main floor, and the stunning hardwood floor set the tone for the rest of the home.

The Delmar is jam-packed with just about every upgrade anyone can dream of. The first eye-catching feature is a skylight over the main door that pours light onto the main foyer, creating a feeling of arrival — a ‘voilá moment’, if you will.

The open space at the entrance branches off into several directions: the first stop on the right is a private den with executive-looking dual French doors. Inside are custom built bookcases, an arrangement of two wing chairs, an oversized desk, and tons of natural light flowing in from the large bordering windows. It’s the perfect setting for the busy executive who needs to work at home, and can even serve as a quaint reading room and library.

An arched entryway leads to the dining room, with its tray ceiling and rope lighting, it is a spot that just begs to host large parties, especially with the divine and elegant furnishing that add a sense of occasion to this part of the home.

The sumptuous gourmet kitchen is an essential component of the Delmar’s entertainment possibilities. With its seemingly endless granite counter space, it has both the form and function to make it a swinging party room as well as the resident chef’s dream kitchen. The sheer amount of cabinetry allows for a whole new level of organization, abetted by the large walk-through pantry. The double oven and the double door Fridge will set a chef’s imagination on overload — let the cooking begin! A dropped down dining area and a bright airy nook provide choice dining options. And for those that enjoy having their meals overlooking an amazing view, there is a wrap-around balcony just out the door from the nook, making it possible to have indoor or outdoor living, wherever you choose.

Separating the kitchen from the great room is a huge stone-accented wall, with a built in two-way fireplace. Cold winter nights will never be the same again.

The great room is decorated with comfy-cushy-pass-out-on-it-while-watching-TV couches that really sum this great room up, as a room for the family’s comfort and an inspired space where guests can congregate with ease and hold sparkling conversations.

Moving onto the next level, the grand staircase directs the way, with lavishly soft carpet, making the journey feel like walking on air, and the swanky, chic appointments in all the rooms complete the heavenly sensation.

The owner’s suite spans almost half of the upper floor and features a grand entry with double doors, and once through, you’ll step into your own private oasis. The huge bedroom features a cosmo fireplace, a spacious sunny retreat and its own covered patio. A huge walk-in closet appeals to the clothes-horse in all of us, with a large island and a built-in dresser that separates the bedroom from the spa-like ensuite. The eyes are immediately drawn to the free-standing tub surrounded by windows. Dual vanities, large tiled shower, a juice/coffee bar and a private water closet with a bidet makes it the ultimate master retreat.

The grand design extends to the enormous bonus room upstairs, which again displays Shane Homes’ remarkable eye in creating a space for the whole family to enjoy. This space has all the must haves, from large oversized furniture, to an entire wall devoted to entertainment, and huge windows with natural sunlight just pouring in adding to the halo hanging over this home. This is a room that families will make time to spend in together; every night is movie night at this home.

Even the Delmar’s upstairs laundry room has a grandiose appeal, with 15 cabinets, a wrap around granite counter top, a sink, and a window to let in some fresh air and natural light.

There are two other bedrooms that are just as masterfully designed, and one of them even has its own private three-piece ensuite and walk-in closet. The other bedroom has direct private access to the main bath down the hall.

The show home’s location in Valley Ridge is just as heavenly, as it is a community where everyone feels like a winner with its stunning views and magnificent connection to nature with its winding pathways. The lotto home sides a regional pathway and backs onto a natural treed reserve.

Seeing the Delmar show home is a treat in itself, but supporting the Kinsmen Lotto for the Alberta Children’s Hospital is its own reward.

This year’s Kinsmen Lotto also offers a plethora of over 1,800 prizes — from houses, to cars, to cash — valued in excess of $2.26 million. Tickets will be sold, in packages of one for $100, six for $200 or 15 for $300. Cutoff for ticket sales is August 19, with the final draw on September 8. For more information visit
