Belmont ushers in a new era for growth in south Calgary

Anthem United is spearheading residential growth in south Calgary as the renowned land developer opens new show homes in their latest community of Belmont.

Located west of Macleod Trail and south of Silverado on Sheriff King Road, Belmont promises to shine the spotlight on this nature filled area on the southern tip of the city that will be a big draw for families for years to come.

Belmont is where your story will unfold, says Anthem United Development Manager Steve LePan. “First home? Growing family? New to Calgary? Anthem United has assembled an all-star cast of home builders with a focus on quality, variety and customer service. 12 new show homes are opening at the end of April to showcase the family-friendly attributes and values of Belmont.

Jayman BUILT and Morrison Homes are offering laned single-family homes as well as single front-drive homes. Cedarglen Homes, Homes by Avi, Shane Homes and Trico Homes are offering two-car front attached garage move-up homes.

The first multi-family development will be Homes by Avi’s fee-simple street towns.

Already under construction, these street towns are being built in a row with blocks of five or six units. “They offer value and affordability and all with no condo fees!” LePan says.

Four multi-family home sites are also being developed in the first phase that will have townhomes from Anthem and StreetSide Developments. Belmont’s opening phase includes 170 single-family lots and 54 street towns.

Laned homes are built on 25-foot wide lots with a single side yard and optional rear-detached garage. “A perfect home with great curb appeal for young couples or growing families,” LePan says. These are from Jayman BUILT and Morrison Homes and they start from the $370,000s

Single-car, front drive homes from Jayman BUILT and Morrison Homes have a 25-foot wide lot with a single yard, and offer convenience and affordability.

Double-car, front drive homes have floor plans to accommodate all a family could want and are available in sizes from 29- to 31-foot wide lots with a single side yard. These are from Homes by Avi, Cedarglen Homes, Shane Homes, and Trico Homes. Prices are from the $480,000s. Homes by Avi’s street towns will be from the $350,000s.

“We’re looking at first-time buyers and young families. We want to make it attainable for them to get into the market,” LePan says.

Just south of the Ring Road and moments from the rolling foothills, Belmont offers quiet refuge on the edge of the City. Discover all that south Calgary has to offer — roam the farmer’s market at Granary Road, then catch a movie in Shawnessy Village. And when the weekend is over, choose your route into the City or park and ride at the Bridlewood LRT Station. Living in Belmont is all about choice.

“It’s a place where proximity to the amenities of south Calgary go hand-in-hand with the abundance of park and recreation areas. This means your new home extends well beyond your front door,” he adds.

Belmont is all about beginnings, and as such is perfect for anyone looking to begin a new phase in life. From those who want to own their first home, to those looking to move up to a family home, and those wishing to simplify their lifestyle.  LePan says Belmont offers affordable lot sizes from 25- to 31-feet wide. “We’re looking to attract the entry level market.”

Accessibility will also be key and Belmont will be within 500 metres of a future LRT station, but as it is, Belmont is already quite near the existing LRT station at Bridlewood-Somerset.

There are two future school sites in Belmont itself (one elementary, and one high school). “We will also have a City of Calgary recreation centre right in the community,” LePan says. A comprehensively planned and accessible playground for children of all ages will also be constructed in Phase 1.

Another thing that makes Belmont a place for new beginnings is that it will be the first community to be launched under the Anthem United name, following United Communities purchase by Anthem in 2014.

United Communities developed land in Alberta for more than 80 years and they were behind such master-planned communities as Sage Hill, Nolan Hill and Drake Landing.

LePan says the aim of the name was to reflect the “coming together of two companies.”

“It was a natural fit to go with Anthem United,” he adds. “Respecting both companies’ pasts.”

In the Calgary area, Anthem United has three communities coming. Belmont, D’ARCY in Okotoks — which has already broken ground in the spring, and Chelsea in Chestermere, which will follow soon.
