Falling in love with Fireside

Families fall for the easy living lifestyle of this southern Cochrane community

Cochrane’s magical landscape has always been the draw to living in this Western Heritage town, but the amenity-rich and affor-dable lifestyle offered in the popular community of Fireside is what makes living here a dream.

Surrounded by prairie landscapes, hills and natural wetlands, Fireside provides a warm and inviting setting to call home. Further blessed by the scenic backdrop of the Rockies, it’s only a quick drive down Highway 1 for a mountain adventure. Those already living here have found
that Fireside itself has acres of land for biking, hiking and other recreational activities right in their own backyard.

Now, Fireside has even more to offer as this first community development by La Vita Land in Cochrane has recently opened estate lots. These are oversized lots and some can have walkouts, and many can accommodate triple car garage homes — a rarity in Cochrane.

Three new estate show homes from Calbridge Homes, Janssen Homes and NuVista Homes are now open and pros-pective buyers can see just how the broad range of upscale specifications and stylish design have elevated Fireside into one of Cochrane’s best.

“Homebuyers are choosing Fireside because of the value they’re getting for their money. People are able to get more for their dollar in terms of size and square footage in Fireside compared to similar communities in Calgary,” says Justin Mauro, Director of Land Development at La
Vita Land.

“Other residents have chosen to settle down in Fireside because it aligns with the lifestyle they want to live. Many residents work in Calgary but spend most of their extra time in the mountains. Fireside is the southernmost community in Cochrane and is the closest to Highway 1, which makes for a quick escape to Kananaskis, Canmore, and Banff.”

That lifestyle is about to become even more connected with the new bridge that’s now under construction that will connect James Walker Trail right to downtown Cochrane.

“Once complete, the new bridge will give residents of Fireside an alternative route to downtown Cochrane and other amenities such as the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre,” he adds.

The K-8 school that just opened in the community has also convinced many buyers that Fireside is the perfect place to set roots in. There is also a thriving commercial area with a Tim Hortons, a gas station and various services already open at the entrance to the community.

Adding to its appeal is a new senior’s facility that is scheduled to have the first of their three buildings open in 2019. “Resident families now have an option of having their elderly parents live close to their loved ones,” Mauro says.

Community pathways have been extended to the new phases that make walking the dog such a pleasure in the community.

But it is the comprehensive selection of homes offered in Fireside that may be its biggest asset, as it virtually assures that there is a product here that can fit any budget.

Fireside has everything from townhomes from the low $200,000s; single-family homes from the mid $300,000s; semi-detached homes from the low $300,000s; bungalow villas from the mid $400,000; and just recently, estate homes from the low $500,000s.

Calbridge Homes is one of the estate home builders and they are excited about the opportunity. “This will be the first time that estate homes will be introduced in Fireside, and we’re excited to show people just what we’re capable of offering for this market,” says Calbridge Homes director of sales and marketing, Michelle Jakeman.

Calbridge, which won the 2017 BILD Calgary’s Builder of the Year award, is building two-storey and bungalow estate models here, mostly with triple attached garage homes that are a rarity in Cochrane.

NuVista Homes’ area manager Hal Firlotte says they are likewise thrilled to be part of Fireside’s estate builder group. He says their 2,428-square-foot Brentwood show home was designed to take advantage of the natural topography of Fireside and displays all the vast potential of living here brings.

Janssen Homes has estate and front-drive single-family show homes in Fireside and also another show home in The Willows — Fireside’s sister community across the road, both developed by La Vita Land.

Landmark Homes and Brookfield Residential round out Fireside’s family of home builders.

Fireside will have some 2,200 homes on completion; they currently have some 650-plus homes now with more than 1,000 residents calling this south Cochrane community home.

Buyers have been a good mix of younger couples and singles, married couples with children and older right sizers who have found their perfect home here.

Mauro explains that homebuyers have been taking more time to do their research to make sure they’re getting maximum value for their dollar. “The good thing is that their homework is directing them to the community of Fireside. The unparalleled value in terms of square footage and build quality coupled with amenities and quick access to the highway has made Fireside a popular choice,” he says.
