First time’s the charm

WestCreek Homes’ duplexes in Cornerbrook give first-time buyers all they need

WestCreek Homes introduces their line of duplexes in the new northeast community of Cornerbrook, and it is just what first-time homebuyers are looking for.


With five models ranging in size from 1,228 to 1,645 square-feet, West Creek Homes’ Cornerbrook sales manager Alivia Sarkar says their duplexes answers all the first-time homebuyers’ needs of affordability, spaciousness and style.

“Our location in Cornerbrook is also a huge advantage,” she tells New Home Living.

This young community by WestCreek Developments — WestCreek Homes’ parent company — is favourably located in the thriving corner of the northeast quadrant where schools, shopping, entertainment and employment hubs are already plentiful.

“A lot of our buyers are young families, many of whom work at the many employment hubs nearby, especially at the Calgary International Airport that’s just a few minutes drive from here,” she says.

With prices starting from the $320,000s, including GST, WestCreek Homes’ duplexes are the right product for the right time and the right place. “Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and people are just loving what we have to offer,” Sarkar says.

WestCreek Homes’ duplexes are part of the vision to bring a wider range of housing options, style, and affordability to this “boutique” community of the New North. “But our prime location near some of Calgary’s busiest thoroughfares gives our residents quicker access to wherever they need to go,” says Kalida Goldade, WestCreek Developments’ marketing manager.

“It will be a boutique community of only 1,500 households that will initially offer duplexes, laned homes and move-up homes from some of Calgary’s most prominent homebuilders.”

The functionality of the WestCreek Homes’ design is quite evident in the Cascade show home’s kitchen. The U-shape layout allows for a big window overlooking the sink, which adds to the sunny interior. The 36-inch upper cabinets are available in three finishes.

The eating area in the Cascade’s main floor is perfect for entertaining and is an important feature for young families in their first homes, Sarkar says. Quartz and granite countertops in the kitchen are standard and add a definite style quotient to the home.

Nine-foot-ceilings and big windows adorn all five of WestCreek’s duplex models in Cornerbrook. The Cascade is the most popular model, Sarkar says. “The spaciousness, the layout, the standard features it comes with, makes it irresistible  to our buyers.” The Cascade at 1,308 square-feet has three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths with an upstairs laundry. Everything that
first-time homebuyers want, she adds.

WestCreek Homes’ duplexes in Cornerbrook will all have Hardieboard fibre cement siding in front to add to the community’s family-friendly cubrside appeal. “We’re also known for the extended, covered entrance features for all our homes, and we will carry this through in our duplex models in Cornerbrook,” Goldade says.

The spacious master bedroom of the Cascade can fit a king size bed and still have room for bureaus and nightstands. The three-piece attached ensuite and the roomy walk-in closet makes it ideal for young families or even downsizers. WestCreek Homes’ duplexes here can have from two to six bedrooms.

The Sierra show home has a more contemporary style, but is just as practical with its use of space. At 1,524 square-feet it is one of WestCreek Homes’ larger models in Cornerbrook. “We can build homes here with side entrances and spice kitchens as options,” Sarkar says.

The Sierra’s galley style kitchen has a centre island and a walk-in pantry that creates a seamless workflow making it easier for the busy family to get their act together on hectic mornings. The extended eating ledge on the centre island is a convenient spot for a quick bite before heading out the door.

Price point is a major driver of sales in Cornerbrook, but affordability doesn’t mean it has any less style. But the community itself is a key factor, too. Cornerbrook has 30 per cent of its land devoted to its central park — which together with the parks in the adjoining communities creates a total of 180 acres of recreational green space. They are also connected to the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway regional pathway system.
