Changing times encourages new thinking.

In its nearly three decades of operations, Trico Homes has always kept this spirit of innovation alive in its line of products. The introduction of its new Gems Series proves again its adeptness in fulfilling the demands of a changing market.

The concept of multi-generational homes is a relatively new one to Calgary. Having aging parents living with your family under one roof has not been the norm here. But the influx of new cultures where this living arrangement is preferred has influenced the market in a
big way.

Now there is growing demand for bigger, better designed homes to fit the wants and needs of multi-generational families, and Trico Homes proves again that they are up to the task of providing just what this market wants.

Trico’s Gems Series homes that is being introduced first in the northeast community of Redstone is the dream home for homebuyers with extended families living with them. They can fit the needs of multi-generational households who take familial responsibilities to heart,
and is perfect even for those who want to support their mortgages through the ability to rent out a portion of their home.

“We saw an opportunity to create a new product line that was currently not available in the market,” says Trico Homes’ Vice-President, Marketing, Wanda Palmer. The Gems address the unique needs of families with multiple generations and multiple families living under
the same roof.

“Our customers communicated their desire for togetherness with elements of privacy. They also shared the importance of flexible, customizable floor plans that maximize functionality and convenience. The Gems Series homes offers creative solutions to these needs
through unique and elegant designs that provide exceptional value,” she says.

Trico won’t be the first homebuilder to target this growing multi-generational market. But they are the first to incorporate all the most popular features that multi-generational households look for in their dream home. These include flexible parking options, standard side
entrances, legal suites, spice kitchens, main floor bedrooms with full baths and even options for extra main floor suites.

Trico has also addressed the biggest problem with existing multi-generational homes: parking. Even if those homes do have five bedrooms, they normally only get a double front attached garage, which may not be enough to suit the vehicle needs of such large
households. But in Redstone, The Gems Series not only has wider lots, they are the only ones that offer front drive parking with additional lane access.

“Redstone’s Phase 9 offers a unique selection of home sites that are not readily available in most areas of the city,” Palmer says. “Trico is the only builder here with these wider lots to accommodate front drive homes with lane access.” Additionally, Redstone is zoned for
legal secondary suites, which makes it even more suitable for the Gems Series.

Six new show homes are opening on July 13 that illustrate the ingenuity of the Gems Series homes. The Gems Series offers unique home sites wider than any others in the community (ranging from 36- to 46-feet). This allows Trico to incorporate more amazing features
in the Gems home designs.

The Gems Series consists of three unique front drive homes with rear lanes and two laned homes with a parking pad or double garage options. Front Drive models range from 1,700 to 2,300 square-feet, while the two laned models start from 1,900 square-feet. “The
pricing will be released at our VIP event. People can register on the Trico website for more information,” Palmer says.

The entirety of the Gems Series will be available initially only at Redstone, the inclusive young neighbourhood by Qualico Communities that has become an integral part of the New North. Its Emerald and Sapphire laned models are also currently offered in the northwest
community of Livingston.

Redstone is also the perfect community to launch Trico’s new line of homes, as it has already attracted a diverse range of buyers from first-time home owners to young families, and downsizers. The community has also embraced its multi-cultural identity and has long
offered multi-generational homes — in fact, it may be the birth place of the term.

“Redstone is an established community with great accessibility to major roads and amenities. It has been one of the fastest selling communities in the N.E. There are interconnecting pathways throughout the neighbourhood creating a true sense of community. Redstone
will also have a future LRT station, schools and commercial plaza of its own, which is very important to our customers,” Palmer says.

The Gems Series fits right at home here. “We designed these homes with our customers’ needs for comfort, convenience and multi-generational living in mind,” she adds.

“Trico is very focussed on creating innovative solutions and options for today’s homebuyers. The needs of families change and evolve and we want to make sure our products continue to provide the best in function, style, flexibility and value.”
