Avalon to open Discovery 5 Net-Zero House
Avalon Master Builder cements its role as one of Calgary’s leaders in building environmentally sustainable ‘green’ homes, as the multi-awarded builder gets ready to open its Discovery 5 House in Altadore this November.
Calgary’s newest Net-Zero home, Avalon Master Builder’s Discovery 5 House, will be open for public viewing for a limited time from Saturday, November 10th, and Sunday November 11th from 11:00 am until 3:00 p.m. each day. The Discovery 5 House is located at 2009 48 Avenue S.W.
Discovery 5 came about through a partnership with SAIT’s Green Building Technology Applied Research, and it explores a new level of green home building technology including extensive solar energy systems, green roof and living wall systems.
As a Net-Zero home Discovery 5 will produce as much energy as its occupants use on an annual basis. Avalon has taken environmental responsibility further by including water conservation measures, waste reduction techniques, improvement in indoor air quality and zeroscaping landscaping.
Discovery 5 House is Avalon’s fifth green building research home and the third entirely Net-Zero house and represents yet another important milestone towards Avalon’s vision to build 100 per cent of their homes as Net-Zero homes, at no additional cost to their purchaser. The Discovery 5 House is a testament to the future of Sustainable Housing and resource efficient construction in Canada, says Avalon CEO and President Ryan Scott.
“This terrific private-public partnership which will facilitate an exchange of ideas, foster learning and research of new green building technologies” says Scot says. “SAIT and the home building industry will both benefit.”
Avalon Master Builder is a forward thinking home building company that puts people first, builds quality homes at a reasonable price and believes what’s good for our environment is also good for our customers. Additional details on the Discovery 5 House can be found at: www.discovery5house.com
