After attending the annual Calgary Home Builders Association Sales and Marketing (SAM) Awards in Mid-April, I’ve come to a conclusion. One, the CRHBA really knows how to throw a party. Two, Al Morrison is the Gretzky of Calgary home builders.
I mean, after winning six consecutive Grand SAM Award Builder of the Year titles, what else can you say? But, while Wayne and his pals hung up their skates a long time ago, the Morrison Homes team shows no signs of slowing down anytime in the foreseeable future. And, as if just to prove the Calgary Region Home Builders Association’s judges’ selection was correct, Calgary area homebuyers themselves also voted for Morrison in the much-sought-after Alberta New Home Waranty Customer Choice Awards. For a full wrap-up of the winners.
This edition also offers new homebuyers plenty of expert advice. Choosing a contractor was a story we did in response to an actual email received from a reader who had, shall we say, a less than perfect renovation experience. We also ask some friends in the design community about cool colours for Spring, and get some information on insulation.
Builder Profile and Community Profile shine the spotlight on Landmark Homes and the Airdrie community of Morningside, while show home tours take us to Beattie’s Alpine VI in Chestermere and Coco’s Glencoe in Okotoks. Meanwhile, the Designer’s Choice floor plan of the month looks at a little bit different kind of home, the Enviro Home.
Rounding off the editorial line-up this month are a very illuminating photo feature on lamps, a visit to UBG’s design gallery, and a very interesting piece about undergoing what can only be called a garage makeover.
