April 2006 | Issue 4
In the April edition of New Home Living, Calgary’s original and only monthly new home lifestyle magazine, we’re holding tight to the saying ‘April showers bring May flowers’. If not flowers, then at least warmer weather or some other tangible sign of spring – like people moving.
For our cover story, we take a look at one of the funnest parts of purchasing any new home – ‘Moving Day’. To move yourself, or hire movers, that is the question posed by thousands of Calgarians every year and answered by writer Joy Gregory in this article.
We continue with our standard line-up of New Home Living departments in this edition, including: Interiors, Exteriors, Expert Advice, Yard & Garden, Around Town, For Men, Designer’s Choice, A Brief History of …, and, of course, Show Homes. Some of the highlights this edition include timely feature stories on spring cleaning, moisture-proofing your basement, and growing your own veggies.
Our monthly show home tour visits several exciting homes from some of Calgary’s finest builders, as we visit Shane’s Ashton in Rainbow Falls (Chestermere), Crossley’s low-maintenance EverCreek Villas, and Sterling Homes’ Heritage model in the Royal Mews of Royal Oak.
And, as part of our goal to get good stories on real people into the magazine, our new home lifestyle feature drops in on a couple of first-time parents-to-be who recently bought a new home in anticipation of their growing family.
