Change, change change…

I know, the title sounds like an Aretha Franklin song, but this September, it isn’t just the weather that’s changing at Source Media Group. The publishers of Condo Living and New Home Living in Calgary — to name a few — has changed addresses, again, and we are now located at our new offices on Macleod Trail, next door to Chinook Mall. If anyone understands about looking for a new home, it’s us.

But, with the trauma of THE MOVE behind us, we can move forward to bigger and better things ahead as we go ‘back to the future’ with a re-vitalized focus on our core value to both readers and advertisers alike: to produce the best of new home and condominium magazines in the city — and deliver them to the most people.

We are increasing our the number of pages devoted to our bread-and-butter show home profiles to four a month, with lots of photos, even as we renew our commitment in offering the best design and décor and shopping tips in town. Not to mention our on-going focus on sustainability with our Going Green column from L. Sara Bysterveld and our resident DIYista Linda Bodo’s trash-to-treasure tips. Of course, we’ll always try to keep on top of happenings in the industry with relevant news and events features.

We start things off with a bang this September with our clutch of show home and builder reviews, including our cover feature for the month: Shane Homes and their distinctive collection of single family homes in Silverado. The unique design perspectives of their Rio and Triumph show homes display Shane’s versatility and stylish sense.

Heartland Homes’ prototype Newbury in New Brighton shows how compact does not have to mean cramped as their 1,200-square-foot home comes complete with all the amenities first-time homebuyers are looking for. Ryan Brothers and McKinley Masters each show off their latest custom home creations, each with underlying “green” features — the September issue, after all, is our “green” issue.

We also do our bit to drum up the excitement for the Calgary Home + Interior Design Show, which has become the single largest event of it’s kind in Southern Alberta and is even bigger this year, as home renovation celebrity Ty Pennington makes his only Canadian appearance this year at the show. Our own regular contributors, Aly Velji and Rosalyn Lazaruk, will be there as well in their Dining by Design feature sponsored by Calgary Condo Living and New Home Living magazines.

September does signify a change in seasons, and for us at Source Media Group  — change is good!
