The New Year is upon us and another year where we get to see Calgary’s new home industry develop continues to give me a rush of excitement, especially now that the worst of the economic downturn seems to be behind us and new home construction rolls into its fourth straight month of gains. Not quite the heady days prior to the bust, but still something that points towards a prosperous year ahead.
What better way to start the year than with a couple of new features in New Home Living? We launch our new On Trend design column where we will be interviewing some of the city’s leading interior decorators to find out the latest in the chic, stylish décor for your home — be it a condo or a single-family. We start off with our theme on home offices and I also get in the act by talking to a few of the biggest suppliers to see what are the latest must-haves for your cubicle at home.
We also begin a new monthly feature where we profile new homeowners, and we talk to them about their new home and why they decided to build with a particular builder and some of the pitfalls they encounter along the way. We debut with Paul and Catherine in SkyView Ranch and why they chose to build with Shane Homes in this up-and-coming neighbourhood in the northeast.
New Year has to start with a “bang” and our cover feature on The Nitro by Innovations by Jayman is our way of welcoming 2012 as festively as possible, as its mixture of urban, urbane design creates a perfect suburban package. We also get to take a tour around Cedarglen Home’s Sedona and see why it’s been a popular choice among new families in Cranston. There’s also Birchwood’s Currie Barracks’ masterpiece, The Monarch, that sets a new standard in inner city lifestyle.
Now that the holidays are almost over and another year rushes to greet us, we here at New Home Living would like to wish you all a very prosperous New Year, and hopefully we can do our part in raising some noise to bring in a bountiful year ahead.
