New Avalon homes Emerge
Avalon Master Builder launched Emerge Homes, a new division and pilot project for the company to be built in conjunction with ATCO Gas, Ener-West Geo-Energy Services Inc. and Carma Developers—on June 19 at the “Green-Breaking” ceremony in McKenzie Towne. Construction of the 40 homes, using geo and solar thermal technology, will begin in July including two show homes for the Elgin Meadow Manor S.E. addresses.
“The benefit financially to the customers is that they do not have to pay for a $35,000 to $40,000 system up front, instead they are able to make a small monthly payment for renewable energy,” says Ryan Scott, Avalon’s president and CEO.
Five plans, with 1,400- to 1,800-square-foot bungalow and two-storey models, will be offered to customers concerned about their environmental impact. Roof solar panels, underground geo loops and more standard energy saving practices–triple-glaze windows and increased R-value–led Scott to say, “With this (homeowners) will have a home that is better insulated and more comfortable than other homes.”
