Qualico Communities keeps the kids in mind
They say it takes a community to raise a child. Qualico Communities takes that task to heart, as the first-ever presenting sponsor at the Calgary International Children’s Festival. The festival runs at Olympic Plaza and the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts May 20 through 24.
Lori Masse, marketing manager at Qualico, says being involved with the festival is nothing new—this year marks the seventh the developer has pitched in for the cause, and among many charitable efforts the company makes on behalf of children and families, including Alberta’s Promise and Habitat for Humanity.
“It’s a natural fit for a partnership. The festival believes strongly in supporting Calgary’s young people by engaging them in the arts where creativity, critical thinking, diversity and cultural understanding are valued.”
Masse says the move matches Qualico’s new corporate directive of Dream, Discover, and Develop. “We believe that the festival allows children to explore the arts from a dream, discover and develop perspective—exactly the way we build our communities.”
The Calgary International Children’s Festival (CICF) is among Canada’s renowned arts festivals and the third-largest of its kind in North America. A charitable organization since 1987, the CICF involves more than 60,000 young people, families and teachers. This year’s fest features 92 performances and workshops by world-class performing artists from Denmark, England, Scotland, Germany, the U.S. and across Canada.
