VIBE 98-5 $50,000 Baby Shower
Now that’s what I call a baby shower. Or was that a baby tropical storm! The winners of the VIBE 98-5 $50,000 Baby Shower could not have been more deserving—or delighted—last month at the festivities at Shane’s Panorama Hills show home. And I don’t envy the selection committee, who pored through thousands of touching entries in search of the most deserving parents-to-be—which came in Brad and Laura Lobb.
Brad, already a dad of two young boys with his wife, Laura, was diagnosed a few months ago with stage 3 colon cancer and was slated to undergo chemo and radiation therapy after the baby was born. But just 24 hours after the gorgeous Autumn Hope arrived, Brad had to have emergency surgery on a bowel obstruction and start intensive therapy. Having to be hospitalized to do so, the 33-year-old had to give up his job as a contractor, without any disability insurance. Needless to say the pair have their hands full with three active little ones, and can really use some help around their full house.
In addition to hosting the mother of all baby showers at the Ambient show home, Shane Homes’ contribution included a $5,000 RESP for baby Autumn’s future education. Other items in the Mother lode of all hauls include: a Martinique crib, bedding, and change table from The Baby Boutique by MacArthur’s Fine Furniture; $5,200 in gift cards (one a week) for groceries from Sobeys; a Bliss Package a month for 11 months from Newbury Spa for Laura, and a “Mom to be Party” for her and three of her gal pals; spring cleaning and upkeep twice a month for a year from ProStar Cleaning; and training and classes from Fitmom.
And Autumn is sure to be one of the best-dressed gals in the city, thanks to her Posh Mommy designer baby duds including a Swarovski crystal soother and Baby Seven Jeans—sure to make her ready for her close up in five photo sessions from SunFlowers Photographic Creations and a leather-bound album to keep them in. Other prizes include the all-important year of cloth diaper service from Happy Nappy; a stroller with a tandem spot for Autumn’s big brother and $125 to spend monthly at Over the Rainbow. And last but not least, the family gets to savour a new box of chocolates paired with delectable Edible Arrangements, (who catered the party with their fruitastic masterpieces) every month for a year.
