Lotto chances to win for health

Shelley Williamson

It’s that time of year again. The kids are back at school, the leaves are changing and thoughts turn to spending more time indoors. How about spending that time in a 3,677-square-foot French architecture-inspired bungalow beauty by Cedarglen Homes?

Some lucky homeowner will call the palatial Cranston abode home for the price of $100 or three for $250, as the grand prize in this year’s Calgary Health Trust’s Lifestyles Lottery. There are more than $3.3 million in winnings at stake, including the $1.7-million grand prize, which throws in $10K in cash, a stylish 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300, and, of course, the posh home fully-furnished, decorated by the pros and landscaped. With possession between November 19 and December 10, the lucky winners will spend the holidays in their luxurious new digs, complete with panoramic views of the snow-capped Rockies.

If a mountain getaway is more your style, a 1,214-square-foot condo at Seclusion Pointe in Canmore and 2008 Jeep Patriot “North” 4-by-4 to get you there year-round, and $5K in cash are also on the prize roster, as well as two $100K cash early-bird prizes. And as always, there are also electronics, vehicles and trips, trips, trips. Proceeds of this year’s draws, slated for November 7 (for the early-bird draw) and November 28 (for the final draws), are earmarked for patient care at the Rockyview General Hospital and Peter Lougheed Centre.

Since 2000, more than $9 million has been raised through the lotteries, benefiting labour and delivery, day surgery, diagnostic imaging, urology and respiratory medicine.
