Good Guys

Jim Zang

Congratulations to the team at Trico Homes, annually one of Calgary’s top residential builders, who last month proudly announced their selection by the Better Business Bureau of Southern Alberta as a recipient of the 2006 Ethics Award. The award comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with Trico’s long history of community involvement.

2006 also saw Trico recognized as one of “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies”, as well as the “5th Best Workplace in Canada” according to Canadian Business magazine. Trico’s community partnerships include the Kids Cancer Care Foundation, Bow Valley College, Leighton Art Centre, the GlobalFest International Fireworks Competition, Asian Heritage Month and UNICEF Canada.

Most recently, Trico Homes staff and management, in the guise of Santa’s helpers, took time this past holiday season to volunteer at the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Western Canada processing centre.  Over 35 Trico Homes’ volunteers donned red hats and shirts and embraced the spirit of giving and compassion for those less fortunate than themselves by processing hundreds of shoe gift boxes destined for Nicaragua.
Operation Christmas Child was founded in 1990, and since then over 46 million shoeboxes have been delivered in more than 100 countries. In 2005, nearly 7.4 million shoe boxes (723,091 from Canada) were collected worldwide and distributed to children in more than 95 countries.
