$14,000 raised in Hopewell’s Polar Bear plunge
It may seem highly ironic that to raise money for Inn From The Cold, people have to first dive in a frozen lake. But that is what 21 brave souls did during Hopewell’s Polar Bear Plunge at the southeast community of Mahogany on February 5 that raised more than $14,000 for the charity.
“We organized the Plunge as a way to lighten up in the middle of winter, celebrate Mahogany’s gorgeous lake, and raise money to benefit our friends at Inn From The Cold,” says Carlie Leask, Hopewell sales and marketing co-ordinator, who was among those who took part in the frozen affair.
Asides from Hopewell employees, representatives from Inn From The Cold, Trico Homes, Jayman MasterBuilt, Stepper Homes and Volker Stevin also jumped in.
“Trico Homes deserves special mention for having raised $4,300 alone towards the event. Trico always shows tremendous commitment to the community, and we were honoured to have benefitted from their efforts,” Leask says.
“This inaugural Plunge was extremely successful and we fully intend on making this an annual event,” she adds.
