UDI honours outstanding members
The Urban Development Institute – Calgary honoured its most outstanding members at the 11th Annual Spirit of UDI Awards Banquet held at the Coast Plaza hotel on April 28.
UDI plays a key role in land development in the city, and its members work for it on a volunteer basis. Each spring the institute honours its many dedicated volunteer members whose enthusiasm fuels UDI – Calgary’s progress.
“UDI – Calgary relies heavily on our volunteers to provide the valuable technical and planning expertise needed to assist in our negotiations and discussions with The City of Calgary and Region. It is through the work of volunteers that UDI – Calgary is able to respond to the many challenging issues facing the development industry,” says Michael Flynn, UDI – Calgary’s Executive Director.
The 2010 Ron Nolan Memorial Award went to Genstar Development Company President James Hammermeister, who has been an active member since 1990 and has served on various boards and committees for UDI Alberta and both UDI-Edmonton and UDI – Calgary. James is a past Chairman of UDI – Edmonton and past president of UDI Alberta.
The 2010 Spirit of UDI Award was given to Michael Dutczek, Senior Vice-Presidnet, Alberta Land, Carma Developers LP. Michael was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for UDI-Calgary from 2007-08 and played an instrumental role in negotiations for the standard development agreements and establishing industry position on the new Municipal Development Plan.
