Hopewell volunteers recognized
Hopewell Residential Communities is the proud recipient of Volunteer Calgary’s 2010 Leader in Employee Volunteering Award (Medium Sized Business). The award recognizes outstanding efforts in empowering employee volunteering.
The Leadership Awards, considered the premier volunteer recognition event in Calgary, marked the culmination of the year-round nomination process. Twelve award recipients were selected out of a total of 124 nominations received across eight award categories. The nominees represent the broad range of volunteers who work toward a common vision of a healthier and stronger community.
“We believe deeply in supporting healthy communities, and as creators of community in our own right we consider it an honour to be able to invest our time and resources behind an organization like Aspen Family,” said Scott Hamilton, Sales & Marketing manager with Hopewell Residential Communities.
“We certainly didn’t expect to be recognized in this way, but are absolutely honoured to have had our hard work acknowledged by both Aspen Family Services, Volunteer Calgary and Chevron Canada, the award’s sponsor.”
Last August the Hopewell Residential Communities team took 40 hours of planning and 225 hours of hands-on labour to transform one of Aspen Family’s group’s care facilities into a more welcoming haven for the youth and staff who work there.
Volunteer Calgary has played a key role in the development of volunteerism in Calgary for over 50 years. Its mission is leading, promoting, connecting and strengthening volunteerism. Through its services and programs, it enhances the ability of approximately 400 non-profit member organizations to manage volunteers and links thousands of Calgarians with unique volunteer opportunities.
