Hopewell Food Fight

Pepper Rodriguez

Hopewell Residential Communities joins the fight to end hunger, as their community of Mahogany in the southeast hosts “Food Fight” on September 18.

Presented by Mahogany’s event caterer, TAO Events Inc., Food Fight promises to feed one homeless person for every three people they serve at the event – which on this occasion will be the grand opening of eight new show homes in this booming, lakeside community.

“Food Fight is an event we came up that goes throughout the year with the help of the corporate community to feed Calgary’s forgotten people,” says Perry McGeough, marketing director of TAO Events. “We will also take anything unused that day and offer it to one of Calgary’s many homeless shelters.”

“The idea that we can benefit the greater community while celebrating key milestones in our community development is a powerful one,” Scott Hamilton, Hopewell’s manager for sales and marketing tells Around Town.

To be unveiled in Mahogany are eight new Lakeland Collection front garage showhomes from Jayman MasterBUILT, Sabal Homes, Stepper Homes and Trico Homes. Most will range in the mid $400,000s, there will also be new lot selections available.

“Hopewell is thrilled to offer Calgarians new show homes by some of Calgary’s most award winning builders in 2009’s New Community of the Year. We invite everyone to come down and see what’s happening in Mahogany, and join us to celebrate the grand opening of these outstanding new homes,” Hamilton adds.

There will be free BBQ for attendees and activities for kids (face painting and balloon artist) at the event that goes from noon to 5 p.m.
