The 8th Annual Peanut Butter Classic, held June 13 at Heritage Pointe Golf Club, raised $100,179.55 for the Youville Residential Society of Alberta, but participants to the Shane Homes-sponsored event got their share in fun as well.

Fully 97 per cent of the money raised go directly to provide financial support to the Youville Residential Society of Alberta, a long-term recovery residence for women that operates in the Calgary area. Their mandate is to offer holistic recovery programming to a particularly vulnerable and challenged population of women, in some cases with their children, in a safe and loving environment.

Organizers of the tournament, including Heather Forsyth, MLA for Calgary-Fish Creek, chair and founder of the Peanut Butter Classic are ecstatic about the results. “Reaching our goal will put a lot of smiles on the faces of the women and children who receive help from Youville.”

Shane Homes President Shane Wenzel adds, “we are fond of supporting causes that promote health and wellness and that are helping to change lives and the Peanut Butter Classic exemplifies this. Shane Homes is very proud to be the major sponsor and we look forward to being the major sponsor again next year with a challenge to raise $150,000.”
