CHBA - Alberta Announces Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing winners

The Canadian Home Builders’ Association — Alberta (CHBA - Alberta) has announced the recipients of the 2011 Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing, presented by RBC Royal Bank.

White Eagle Homes of Edmonton has been awarded the coveted Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year Award. This is White Eagle Homes’ first time winning the Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year Award. They had five entries that placed in the finals and two winning submissions. To win the prestigious Ralph Scurfield Builder of the Year Award, entrants were awarded points for becoming a finalist, a winner, in combination with results from a homeowner survey.

Other finalists for the Builder of the Year Award were Jayman MasterBUILT of Calgary and Rohit Communities of Edmonton. Jayman MasterBUILT of Calgary had four finalists and Rohit Communities of Edmonton had three and they each took home one award this year.

Edmonton builders won in 11 categories while Calgary builders won in seven.

“The home builders and renovators shone at the Alberta Awards of Excellence in Housing,” says CHBA — Alberta Chief Executive Officer Jim Rivait. “With record-breaking submissions, these builders and renovators had plenty of competition. It is evident from the group of finalists that homebuyers have access to a wealth of options to meet any of their needs. We are delighted to congratulate the noteworthy finalists and winners and are honoured to celebrate with them. ”

Alberta new home building industry leaders recognized

During BUILD 2011, CHBA – Alberta’s Annual Conference in Jasper, the Industry Leader Awards recognize association volunteers for their dedication and commitment at the provincial level. They also recognize leaders in the residential construction industry for their commitment to make the industry better. Several awards were distributed, with Calgarians winning the following:
 
Safety Leadership Awards
These awards are presented to companies that set themselves apart by creating a culture of safety ensuring that their co-workers get home safely.

Morrison Homes of Calgary was named the winner of the Safety Leadership Award in the Large Employer Builder Member category.

Keystone Excavating of Calgary was presented with the Safety Leadership Award in the Large Employer General Member categorny .

Broadview Homes of Calgary was presented with the Safety Leadership Award in the Small Employer Builder Member category.

Maple Leaf Award
This major award is given to a general member who has demonstrated leadership and dedication for work at the provincial level. This year’s recipient is Keith Kucharski from Artistic Stairs in Calgary.

Presidential Award of Honour
This special award is presented to a CHBA - Alberta member to recognize outstanding efforts that have served to assist the president during his/her term. Greg Christenson was pleased to present this award to Stephen Amonson of Ashcroft Master Builder in Lethbridge, Steve Bontje of Laebon Homes in Red Deer, and Dave Hooge of Stepper Custom Homes in Calgary.
