Hopewell Residential Communities makes waves in the Calgary new home market this month, as it announces its newest community of Hotchkiss, and followed that up with the opening of eight new move-up show homes in its award-winning Mahogany development.

Both new communities are in the southeast, as Hopewell continues to be a big reason for the strong growth in the area.

The Hotchkiss name is forever linked to Calgary, and Hopewell Residential Community Development’s recent announcement will cement this association further, as the five-time developer of the year launched its newest community in the southeast named: Hotchkiss.

The 210-acre site in the city’s southeast is the award-winning developer’s latest residential development and will feature approximately 1,500 dwellings and will be home to roughly 3,700 residents when complete.

The new neighbourhood was named in honour of former Flames owner, iconic businessman, philanthropist and beloved Calgarian, Harley Hotchkiss, and the entire Hotchkiss family, with whom Hopewell has had a strong partnership with for more than a decade.

“Respect for the land, and commitment to the community were important to my dad,” says Jeff Hotchkiss, the youngest of Harley’s five children, and who spoke for the family at the announcement held on April 24 at Flames Central.

Hotchkiss will be located east of Copperfield and south of the new Ralph Kline Park. It will feature a mix of paired, laned and attached garage homes with groundbreaking expected in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Mahogany Lakeland Collection of front-garage show homes held their grand opening on May 12, featuring the latest, most innovatively designed homes from Jayman MasterBUILT Homes, Sabal Homes, Stepper Homes and Trico Homes.

Mahogany is home to Calgary’s newest and largest lake community. This one-of-a-kind community is anticipated to accommodate approximately 25,000 Calgarians and will be built out over a 15-year period. Mahogany is envisioned as a series of residential neighborhoods anchored by a strong mixed-use urban core and connected to a private and inspiring 63-acre freshwater lake.
