Brookfield Residenital realizes the importance of recreational activities for families and has invested $3.5 million with YMCA Calgary to name the new City of Calgary-built recreation facility in Seton.

As announced at a naming celebration event in September, the new facility will be called the Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton in recognition of the renowned land developer and home builder’s belief in community, wellness and belonging.

In addition to this naming sponsorship, Brookfield Residential is celebrating its 60th year of operations by subsidizing 60 children to participate as YMCA members for one year, helping them achieve the recommended 60 minutes a day of heart-pumping exercise every kid needs.

A 330,000-square-foot facility currently under construction, the Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton will provide opportunities for recreation, leisure and learning through competitive and family-focused aquatics, fitness and sports facilities, arts learning and performance spaces as well as multipurpose areas, a licensed childcare and a full-scale Calgary Public Library.

“We are tremendously happy to partner with Brookfield Residential to bring its transformational gift to life in service of Calgarians, particularly in the southeast,” says Shannon Doram, President and CEO of YMCA Calgary.

Brookfield Residential is thrilled to support health and wellness resources for families in Calgary’s southeast and in the surrounding communities. “One of Brookfield’s core values is community. We believe if we can make a positive contribution to the well-being of community members, it will benefit future generations and in turn will benefit the communities we build,” says Trent Edwards, COO for
Brookfield Residential Alberta.
